Mass demonstrations were held all over Europe and Kurdistan yesterday followings news about the outbreak of a forest fire on Imrali island and no solid confirmation that the Peoples’ Leader and the three others revolutionaries being held captive are unharmed. The actions are as follows:
HEWLER
An action was organized for Öcalan in front of the UN agency in Hewlêr. In the action in which a large number of people participated, concerns about Öcalan’s health and safety were expressed and his freedom was demanded. While the isolation was condemned in the action, it was asked to open the way to negotiations with Öcalan as soon as possible.
SİLÊMANÎ
After hearing that there was a fire on the island of Imrali, people from all over Kurdistan flooded the streets. Many citizens in the city of Silêmaniye in Başûrê Kurdistan stressed that they demand clear information about the situation of People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
During the march in the city centre, slogans such as “Erdogan should know well, Leader Apo is our red line”, and “Long live Leader Apo” was chanted.
KOBANÊ
Thousands of people gathered in the Free Women Square in Kobanê and marched with banners and posters of the People’s Leader Öcalan.
In the march, where the slogan of “Bê Serok jiyan nabe” was frequently chanted, the isolation being imposed by the invading Turkish state against Öcalan was protested. A rally was later symbolically held in the Martyr Egîd Square.
Speaking here, Firat Region Internal Affairs Committee Co-Chair Bozan Xelîl said that the Turkish state aims to destroy the Democratic Nation project with its practices targeting Leader Öcalan.
