Lawyers demand urgent meeting with Leader Abdullah Ocalan following fire on Imrali island

ISTANBUL, TURKEY

The lawyers of the Peoples’ Leader Abdullah Öcalan have applied to the Ministry of Justice to meet with the leadership following a forest fire on Imrali island.

Raziye Turgut, Mazlum Dinç, Rezan Sarıca and İbrahim Bilmez, lawyers of Leader Abdullah Öcalan who is being held in the Imrali High-Security F Type Closed Prison, applied to the Ministry of Justice to meet with their client due to a fire in İmralı.

The following statements were made in the application made to the Ministry of Justice: “We have not been able to meet with our client Mr Öcalan in any way since the last August 7, 2019, nor have we been able to communicate via communication tools such as letters or phone. We demand that our clients, Mr Abdullah Öcalan, Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş, be immediately contacted in order to eliminate these concerns, especially in observing the health conditions and prison conditions.”
