KJK (Kurdistan Woman’s Union) Coordination published message of condolences in the memory of Mother Emutullah Güzel.
“We heard about the death of Mother Emutullah Güzel, one of the symbol names of Amed, the resistance fortress of our freedom movement, with great sadness,” the Union shared. The statement released is as follows:
“Mother Güzel was known in Amed for her public participation in all activities in a very lively, dynamic and pioneering basis. She was one of the symbolic names in the actions carried out by the white-scarved mothers, which was developed on the basis of the removal of the isolation being imposed on our Leadership, under the leadership of Leyla Güven in 2019. She was among the most courageous and faithful mothers who participated in the protests, living by the statement ‘We will win the resistance’.
With this discourse, the kind of participation of Mother Güzel is a manifesto of life, a stance against colonialism, denialism and genocide.
In Kurdistan, our mothers make the representation of matriotism and freedom, as seen in the example of Mother Güzel. Women, who are the constructive and constitutive elements of the Neolithic period, today perform this role in Kurdistan again on the basis of great sacrifice, sincerity, courage and bravery.
With great energy until the age of 85, Mother Güzel has managed to become both mother and a companion of her children in the struggle. She showed true love for her children by participating in the struggle for the homeland and freedom, by taking her place at the forefront. This foundation also led to the abolition of the isolation being imposed on our leadership with courage and sincerity, with great faith and commitment.
She represents a family reality which struggles with the greatest joy, power, honour and pride for each freedom warrior, whether in the mountains, dungeons or cities. Our Kurdish mothers are developing under the leadership of women in Kurdistan.
Today, the genocidal fascist state performs the biggest persecution without differentiating between women, children, and the elderly with an aggressive attitude, especially towards Kurdish mothers. In Middle Eastern culture, mothers are the most sacred beings. The Turkish state has proved that it is the most disrespectful, most formidable and corrupt state in the world. Despite serious health problems, dozens of elderly mothers and fathers resist against the persecution of the Turkish state on the basis of great commitment, even in dungeons.
On this basis, we want to convey our love and respect once again to all our mothers in the person of the struggle of Mother Güzel. We kiss the heavenly hands of our mothers.
As women who are at the forefront of the struggle for freedom, for our Leader, for the country, our mothers are our most precious values.
On this basis, we commemorate beautiful Güzel, who lived in an honest, honourable and labouring manner, who always lived through the hardships, the pain, strain, labour and resistance. We extend our condolences to her family and our people. We renew the promise of the resistance and freedom that Mother Güzel showed in Amed, and the promise for our women and our people, to raise the struggle for the freedom of our people.
We invite all the people of Kurdistan, especially our people in Amed, to embrace a stronger nature of resistance and insurrection, embodied in the person of Mother Güzel.”
