BEHDİNAN, SOUTHERN KURDISTAN

The KJK Coordination statement is as follows:

“The Imrali torture and solitary confinement systems which AKP-MHP has spread to all the people of Kurdistan and Turkey have been institutionalized and imposed by the fascist power. Leader Apo is held in severe torture and isolation. A political hostage policy has been applied to our leadership. No legal constitutional rights are valid on the island of Imrali. Heavy rights violations are made with arbitrary policies. The vital conditions of our leadership are being aggravated day by day. He is held in a cell alone in physically unbreathable conditions. With the fascist AKP-MHP regime, threats have been turned into concrete policies and developed.

Although our leadership was kept in the cell, which coincides with the anniversary of the October 9th conspiracy, a cell penalty was given and the vital conditions were put under more pressure and aggravation. In İmralı, where no lawyers and family visits have been held since 7 August, no news is heard from Leader Apo and the political prisoners around him. Applications made by lawyers and families are rejected. All these practices reveal that Imrali was shaped as a torture system and is carried out as a special warfare system.

On February 27, the public has learned the news that a fire broke out on the island of Imrali, in a statement made by the Minister of Interior, the main actor of genocidal practices as a Kurdish enemy. This situation has been communicated to neither families nor lawyers. State officials have never explained what caused the forest fire on İmralı Island, and the extent to which this fire spread, and the health status of political prisoners, especially Rêber Apo, in İmralı.

This situation reveals the irresponsibility and unseriousness of the AKP-MHP fascist regime.

This government, which has made many attacks on Leader Apo until today, was both the main actor of the 2007 poisoning process and physical torture by cutting the hair and moustache by force. All these processes have been wasted as a result of the struggle and actions carried out by the Kurdish people and women. As this situation worries us all, the fact that the state does not even make a statement should be considered as a big problem, it should be approached accordingly and action should be taken.

On this basis, we call on all human rights institutions, especially the CPT, lawyers, politicians and the public to fulfil their duties. It is necessary to ensure that the CPT sends a delegation to İmralı and has a meeting with Rêber Apo’s lawyers and family.

Rêber Apo’s safety is the safety of all Kurdish people and women. Lawyers should go to İmralı immediately to get health information about the status of our leadership.

All Kurdish people, women and friends should not leave the streets until we hear from our leader. The struggle and resistance grounds should be strengthened and sustained until there is a short, medium and long term solution to the health, security and freedom problems of Leader Apo. ”
