KCDK-E Co-Presidency Council made a written statement today about the fire on İmralı Island. The statement released is as follows:
“The information about the fire in the wooded area on the high-security Imrali isolation island where Leader Apo is being held captive, and the fact that this fire could not yet be extinguished has deeply concerned our people.
The latest situation on Imrali Island, which is said to have emerged earlier this morning and the accuracy of no information can be confirmed, is completely alarming. A complete uncertainty prevails over the condition of Leader Apo, who was last able to meet his lawyers on August 7, 2019.
Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department and Forest Regional Directorate teams have not given any details about taking action to respond to the fire. Moreover, it is stated that firefighters could not go to the island due to the storm at sea.
Right now, Leader Apo and Ömer Hayri Konar, Veysi Aktaş and Hamili Yıldırım are also detained in İmralı Prison.
Lawyers applied to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office to go to the island but it is not clear whether the fascist Turkish state will allow a meeting in Imrali.
We are seriously concerned about the life of Leader Apo and call on international institutions, primarily the Council of Europe and the CPT, to take action.
As KCDK-E, we call on our people living in Europe to react effectively. To all revolutionary, democratic and intellectual friends: warn international institutions, go out on the streets. Let’s become a shield around Leader Apo with our resistance, let’s go down to the squares for his freedom. ”
