BEHDINAN, SOUTHERN KURDISTAN
On 9 January 2013, we extended our microphones to the young women guerrillas fighting in the mountains of freedom, regarding the assassination of three revolutionary women in Paris, France.
YJA-Star guerrilla, Havin Mêrdîn, mentioned that there was new hope for women in the struggle of Martyr Sara (Sakine Cansız). “The martyrdom of Comrade Sara was a massacre committed against the Organisation. Comrade Sara was a pioneer female commander who had been involved in the freedom movement since the beginning. Maybe we only knew Comrade Sara from her books and photographs but her stance influences us even when the friends talk about her approach to other female friends. She wouldn’t leave a place without seeing the woman friends, having meetings with them, chatting. Even when I listened to this approach, I was very affected.
FOLLOWING THE FIGHT OF SARA
Comrade Sara’s attitude determined our approach and stand in life. When she was put into the dungeon, her struggle against the enemy since the founding of the organisation and especially in 2013 became a guideline for us. We met ourselves through Comrade Sara. It is easy to express Comrade Sara, but it is difficult to live like her. Our aim is to complete our struggle from where Comrade Sara left and to be worthy of her.
In the person of Comrade Sara, it is very important for us to be worthy of the labour of Comrade Ronahi and Comrade Rojbin, to determine success and to walk through their paths.
We are going to put up a bigger fight by channelling our anger against the enemy.”
THE JANUARY 9 MASSACRE WAS DEMOLATURIZED
YJA-Star guerrilla, Arin Botan, pointed out that the conspiracy was directed at all the people and women who wanted to become democratized. “The attack against Comrade Sara was an attack against the whole Organisation. This attack targeted the identity of women and youth. In Comrade Fidan’s person, the politics we are in today was targeted. In Comrade Ronahi’s Person, the youth, the dynamism of the society was targeted.
This, in turn, muted the sound of the people and prevented a rise up. The arrests and pressures that took place with the martyrdom of the friends took place in a social dimension. With the realization of the conspiracy, all the societies of the world who were on their way to democratization and all the societies who want to march to freedom were targeted.
HEVAL SARA SHOWS US THE LIGHT IN THE DARK
As young women, we see Comrade Sara as our pioneer, she showed us how many steps we can walk in the dark. We needed a sun to walk through this darkness and Comrade Sara became that sun. She taught us how to walk along the line of the leadership and the free women, both as young people and as women.
When we look at the life of Comrade Sara, she puts forth a massive struggle from the smallest issue to the biggest. Even when struggling with small things, she never stops dreaming of reaching bigger things.”
YOUNG WOMEN ARE THE POWER TO CHANGE SOCIETY
YJA-Star guerrilla Arin Botan stated that the power to change society was in young women and concluded with the following words:
“Despite their young age, Comrade Fidan and Comrade Ronahi threw themselves worry-free to their duties. Today, as YJA-Star guerrillas, we fight at the top of the mountains. The biggest guide in this struggle is the life of these 3 friends. Comrade Sara was the philosophy of life and the free female personality. Comrade Sara is the embodied philosophy of the Leadership.
All responsibility now lies with young women. Women and young people can change society. Everything starts in youth, an old perspective can not build a new life. Young women should be able to look out of their homes and lives through a larger window. Knowing this, the enemy initially wants to remove young women from their essence.
The enemy is afraid of us, and in this new year we must raise our struggle and become one with our people. ”
