BAGHDAD, IRAN

Known as Iran’s general in charge of foreign operations and the commander of the Holy Forces of the Revolutionary Guards Army, Qasim Sulaymani, and Abu Mehdi al-Mühendis, the Deputy General Commander of Hashd al-Shabi, were allegedly killed yesterday in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.

A day later, a convoy of Hashd al-Shaabi’s members was struck by an airstrike in the Thaci area in northern Baghdad; 6 people were killed and 3 people were seriously injured in the attack.

The attack in Baghdad took place at 01.12 am local time. Two of the three vehicles in the convoy were completely burned in the attack.

In some local media reports, it was claimed that the commander of the Imam Ali Brigade of the Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) Shibl Zaydi was targetted. However, Hashd al-Shaabi announced that those killed in the convoy were not high-level leaders as claimed in the media, but rather health personnel.
