Just as Abdulhamit kept himself alive by playing balances between the French, British, Germans and Russians, Erdogan is now trying to do the same. He tries to implement his own agenda by making use of everyone without being bound to one side. He tried to do this with the occupation operations of Rojava and Northern Syria in order to eliminate the Kurdish gains at first, but soon after Erdoğan performed a prayer in the Umayyad Mosque he was forced to retreat. He did not even return, he drifted into the swamp, and continues to drift in the Idlib swamp.
The current dream of the AKP-MHP government, which cannot get out of the swamp in Syria, is the Libya swamp.
The aim of the Turkish state in Syria and Rojava was to eliminate Kurdish gains. The Turkish state initially occupied Afrin, taking it had the US and Russia’s support. Adding new promises to the US and Russia from the occupation of Afrin, he made a great massacre by using chemical weapons in Northern Syria where the Kurds reside under the name of creating a ‘Safe Zone’. Thousands of Kurds were massacred by chemical weapons used before the eyes of the world.
In the face of the resistance of Kurdish forces in the occupation operations against North Syria, the US and Russia and Damascus regime, especially the USA, were left empty-handed. Erdogan and his gang could not get what they want from Syria, so they set out towards Idlib. Rolling in the swamp of Idlib, Erdogan’s gangs have given their direction to Libya as the only salvation. Erdogan’s first and foremost goal in Libya is to have a say in the Middle East.
The second reason behind the insistence of the palace government to send troops to Libya is; It desires to take advantage of everything from underground resources to its strategic position. While trying to have underground resources, it aims to turn the Libyan people into slaves. Turkey will thus stretch the stability and economy of the country. It is a known reality that the Turkish state is doing population work there. The Turkish state seeks to dominate Africa through Libya. This shows that the occupation mentality of Ottomanism still continues.
There are some people in Libya that are a threat to international forces. And these are protected by the predatory Turkish state. Logistic support is provided to such people. For this reason, the Turkish state has been fastened in the war. In order to avoid losing power, the palace also sends ships along with its ISIS members to Libya.
It is not only ISIS members being sent to this war. The FSA’s Sultan Murad Brigade, Mutasım Brigade and Northern Falcons Brigade who were used in the occupation of Efrîn, Girê Spî and Serêkaniyê are being sent to Libya. Erdogan promises $2000 a month to each member of his gang. According to Elizabeth Tsurkov, a researcher at The Forum for Regional Thinking, the factions who will fight in Libya on behalf of Turkey, will be awarded citizenship in exchange for a commitment of six months of fighting in Libya.
The fascist, terrorist Erdogan promised citizenship on the one hand and money, on the other hand.
It was established by reports shared in February 2012, that the SADAT which supposedly provides consultancy and military training services internationally, was active in Libya.
Previously, former US President Adviser Michael Rubin said that the SADAT was actively involved in suppressing the 2016 coup attempt. He also stated that SADAT has trained approximately 3,000 foreign fighters operating in Syria and Libya and received a grant from the Turkish government for this purpose. Michael Rubin also stated that ISIS and Al-Nusra were among the groups that received military training from SADAT.
The Turkish state is trying to implement its policy of changing the demographic structure in Syria.
After the failure of the Syrian policy, the Turkish state, whose claim to become a regional power has been shaken, it sees Libya as a new territory for itself. For this reason, the Turkish state has turned its direction to North Africa. While the doors in the Middle East are closing one by one, he sees Tripoli as the only way out to achieve the desired gains in the war in the Mediterranean.
There is a new cold war in the Middle East. One of the most important factors is the fact that Libya is experiencing a serious concern about the burning of gas, and the second is the determination of the borders of the Turkish state with other countries. Because there are eight states in these waters. In addition, there is Northern Cyprus as the ninth country and the Palestinian Authority. The Turkish state wants to seize the riches in Libya because Libya is an oil-rich country.
During the Gaddafi period, many Turkish companies were operating in Libya. The civil war in 2011 caused the Turkish state to suffer a serious loss here.
Of course, another dimension is the power struggle in the Eastern Mediterranean. Last year, the Turkish state began drilling for oil and gas exploration in the Eastern Mediterranean. After the European Union reacted to the illegal pursuits of these drilling activities, the Eastern Mediterranean emerged as a new area of conflict for the Turkish state in international politics. It is the EastMed agreement between Israel, Greece and Cyprus signed in Athens. With this agreement, 900 thousand kilometres of pipeline will be built to transport Palestine’s and Cyprus’ gas.
The reason for signing the Memorandum of Understanding is Libya’s geopolitical position in this conflict. The EastMed treaty has caused a great reaction in the Turkish state as it aims to transport gas from the Eastern Mediterranean to Europe. The only hope of Erdogan and the Palace gangs to maintain authority over the Middle East’s policy is Libya. Because Erdoğan has become unstable due to his policies in the Middle East getting stuck in the swamp. The last opportunity in this is looking for balance in Libya.
