MARSEILLES, FRANCE
On Sunday (December 1st), Kurdistanis and their internationalist friends gathered at the Place de Roses hall in Marseilles to celebrate the 41st anniversary of the PKK.
The PKK’s pioneering cadres and posters of Peoples ‘Leader Abdullah Öcalan decorated the scene, while a “Martyrs’ Corner” was created with the photographs of PKK guerrillas who were martyred in the Freedom Struggle.
The celebration began with a moment of silence in memory of the martyrs of the revolution, followed by the anthem of Ey Reqib.
The event started with an opening speech on behalf of the Organizing Committee and continued with speeches made by Kurdish politician, Kemal Aktaş, and members of the Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger (Revoluutionairy Youth Movement) and Jinên Ciwan ên Azad (Free Young Women Movement).
Artists Hozan Aydın, Cüney-Viyan Kartal, Xemgîn Bîrhat, Yelda Abbasi and Hozan Sımar performed during the event.
A documentary was shown of the speeches of the People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the event ended with folklore and slogans.
