BEHDINAN, SOUTHERN KURDISTAN
Murat Karayılan, a member of the PKK Executive Committee, reminded that the Kurdish people previously only lived on the mountains, did not know about politics, and did not have any place in the field of diplomacy to make their voices heard. Murat Karayilan stated, “now Rojava of Kurdistan is also able to respond in every sense to diplomatic, political, military and social assaults. So we as Kurds should see our shortcomings and mistakes, but we should also trust ourselves. If we do this, we will succeed. ”
PKK Executive Committee Member Murat Karayılan answered the questions of journalist Arjîn Ferat in the Stêrk TV Special Program.
Starting by commemorating martyrs Adil, Gülbahar, Muhittin and Rüstem Zeydan and all other December-Martyrs. “We commemorate the martyrs of the Robosky Massacre, the Maraş Massacre, the 19 December Prisons Massacre, the Til Rifat Massacre and the Merivan tragedy. Karayılan stressed that the massacre and torture endured by the Kurds have become the permanent policy of the colonists.
Celebrating the Christmas Day of Christians in Kurdistan and around the world, Karayilan first answered the question about the ongoing isolation of Peoples’ Leader Abdullah Ocalan.
Isolation
“That isolation is the result of the genocide policy of the Turkish state;” Karayilan stated that there is no such thing as morality, law and human rights in this isolation and torture system and that the colonial laws implemented by the Turkish state in Kurdistan which has been intensified during the AKP dictatorship.
Stating that there is nothing on behalf of the law, order, and morality in what Erdoğan defines as the law, Karayılan reminded of the hunger strikes which were launched against the isolation of the leadership. Karayilan said that a hunger strike was held for 6 months and that 9 very valuable people sacrificed themselves in that process.
Emphasising that Erdogan had stated “the ban on Ocalan has been lifted,” Karayilan stated “Once again it is seen that they do not stand by their promises, they are hypocritical and cowardly. They resemble nothing on behalf the of honour and decency of being a human.” Karayılan stated that the persecution in İmralı is now spreading to all prisons for the revenge of the hunger strikes.
Stressing that the persecution imposed on the people of Kurdistan in the person of Öcalan exceeds the limits of tolerance, Karayılan emphasized that there must be a very serious struggle against it. “The genocide policy is centre-stage. The important thing is to resist this genocide policy and to be the answer to the process by raising the struggle.”
Appointment
Pointing out that the looting of municipalities and the arrest of the co-mayors of the municipality is the result of this genocidal policy, Karayılan continued: “In particular, they recently arrested the esteemed mayor of Sur. Sur has a great meaning for the people of Amed and the entire Kurdish people. They raided the Sur mayor’s house and put a gun at him and his 10-year-old child. They are trying to offend this representative of the people, elected with a 61 per cent of the vote, in a rude and disrespectful manner.
With these approaches, they want to completely liquidate Kurdish politics. This is their policy. We are against a very merciless, unscrupulous state. It doesn’t give anyone space to live. The HDP is a legal political party, established under Turkish state laws and received more than 6 million votes in elections. They arrest HDP members saying “You are a member of an illegal organization.’ There is no such thing.”
Genocide policies
Karayilan said that this genocide policy could not have any results in the 21st century because it was derived from the weakness of the Turkish state and said: “haphazardly it is sending the cops onto the HDP. This is despicable. They even break their own laws here. Under normal Turkish state law, a mayor may be dismissed when he commits a crime, but then the council will sit and elect a deputy mayor from within. Because municipalities have their own councils. But the AKP does not do so. As the co-mayors of the municipality appoints trustees, the council replaces the trustees. I mean, it completely deactivates and neutralizes it. This is implemented to not recognize the will of the people. The will of our people and society is to be trampled. ”
Chains of fascism
Recalling that HDP Co-chairman Pervin Buldan said “there is a very extreme attack against us, this is hostility, we want it to end,” Karayilan said that he was surprised how they could tolerate it.
“There is unlimited fascism discharged from its chains, and they carry out the genocide policy with this fascism. Our people, the people of Turkey and the AKP-MHP international community should see these inhumane atrocities of fascism, and no one should remain silent, society must own attitude towards it. There is lawlessness, and immorality.”
Societies and dynamics
Karayılan emphasized that society should build its own strength on its own dynamics instead of hoping for the benefit of others.
“The power and the solution is society itself. Our people have developed such a false and misunderstood perception: they say ‘there are friends, the friends will come and do it’. This understanding is to demand the remedy from the outside.
Trusting the friends, seeing hope in something is right and proper, but you must turn yourself into power. If 3-4 people come together in society, it becomes a force. In another place, when 10 people come together and expand themselves, they can take control of the entire neighbourhood and manage it. In this way, they may well become a force. ”
Society must realise its power
Now people all over the world stand up and demonstrate. The AKP has now placed police everywhere to prevent the uprisings. When the legal party says it will hold meetings or marches somewhere, the state sends 100 cops if 10 people are going there. He won’t even let society breathe. So what will people do in this situation?
By organizing themselves in their own neighbourhoods without announcing or advertising to anyone, 500 people will turn into thousands and people could emerge and show their reactions, show their will and everyone should take initiative. This is necessary. Of course, the defence forces should work on this, but on the other hand, our people, Kurdish women and youth, should work for this to happen.
Women and youth are the pioneers of society. Kurdish women are now working, but legal meetings in buildings are not enough. In fact, this state does not even accept its own laws. For this reason, the mysterious-hidden power of the society now must manifest itself in the streets. This is what is needed today. We believe this will improve the situation.
Both our defence forces and our people have concentrated on this basis and we are hopeful that they will develop. ”
Turkey-Russia relations
Murat Karayilan drew attention to the important developments in the Middle East, stating that the region is almost boiling.
“First American has developed several projects. The latest BOP (Great Middle East Project) was not the victor of results and was wasted. They don’t even talk about it anymore. Now it is seen that Russia wants to develop a similar kind of project and it is making various efforts on this basis. In this framework, Russia has intense relations within the region. This aim of Russia is not only for Syria but for the whole region.
In this case of Turkey, he is afraid of the Kurds and the Kurds making an emergence. He wants to prevent the Kurds, to ensure that they do not have status, and to make himself an imperial and hegemon state in the region by realizing new Ottoman dreams.
The Turkish state no longer wants to stay with its official borders. This is the purpose of the new regime of the Turkish state. So he has various plans in Syria, Libya, Egypt and even Iraq.
In this respect, Putin and Erdogan have established a ‘give and take’ a dialogue among themselves developing a method for agreement.
The delivery of Efrîn, for example, was made in exchange for the surrender of Guta and the Damascus regions. Idlib, for example, was delivered in exchange for the removal of the gangs from Aleppo. They manage by negotiating in this way.
It is unclear how far these bargains go because the bases on which Russia and Turkey lie are contrasting. For example, Turkey and the AKP want to make themselves authoritative in the region through the Muslim Brotherhood and jihadists gangs. Turkey’s main segment is based in the Syrian Ikhwan-i Müslimin. While Russia is based on the system of the Syrian government. They are opposed.
The same holds true in Libya. Russia supports General Heftar in Libya, while Turkey is opposed to him and supports the Muslim Brotherhood line and gangs. The floor on which they are based is completely opposite. For this reason, Russia and the Turkish state either come together at the table or confront each other on the fields of conflict.
Putin and Erdogan will meet on January 8th. Idlib clashes have intensified. The Turkish delegation is already going to Russia. Already the main task of these delegations are negotiation. The heads of state come together and finalize these agreements. There seems to be a broad bargain between Turkey and Russia. This is Idlib. It seems they have already reached some agreements on Idlib. The clashes now in Idlib are developing on this basis.”
