ANKARA, TURKEY
Cebeci Campus students published a written statement titled ‘What is happening at Cebeci Campus,’ about the attacks on students at the Ankara University. In the statement, the students drew attention to their lack of safety.
The students reminded that university security guards watched as fascists battered and even stabbed a student.
“How are the students attacked with a knife?” the students asked. “The students who wanted to enter the symposium at the Faculty of Social Sciences were attacked by a group of students who described themselves as ‘grey wolves.’ The group attacked both students and teachers sitting in the backyard.
On December 2, 2019, three students were stopped in Cebeci Campus Faculty of Education and a friend was attacked with a knife. While all of this was happening, the security forces watched from afar and intervened too late.
Continuing, the students shared, “A student was pointed a gun at in front of the law school. The commemoration of Charlie Hebdo and Hrant Dink was attacked. They entered the canteen with rows and shakes in their hands and attacked the students and were still not subject to any sanctions.
The school administration should not protect these gangs and keep them away from school instead of watching.”
