ISTANBUL, TURKEY
A 24 hour ban of legal counsel was issued for the Mezopotamya agency’s detained reporters Sadiye Eser and Sadık Topaloğlu.
The Agency shared, “Our reporters who left the agency in the evening yesterday and weren’t heard of again for sometime, turned out to be detained and taken to the Provincial Security Directorate while their houses were raided and searched.
“The lawyers of our agency went to the Provincial Security Directorate to find out on what grounds our reporters were being held. It was stated to the lawyers that there was a ban on legal counsel for our reporters, issued by the İstanbul Public Prosecutor’s office within the scope of an investigation.”
The Lawyers were informed that a “confidentiality” order had been placed on the case regarding the investigation started.
