ANKARA, TURKEY
The death of Sule Çet has been on the agenda of human rights activists in Turkey for a long time. Today, the falling Sule Çet case was concluded in Ankara.
Today, the fascist Ankara 31st High Criminal Court has announced the verdict held for harassers Çağatay Aksu and Berk Akand in the case.
The court stated that Çağatay Aksu killed Şule after sexually assaulting the young woman and later threw her from the 20th floor of the plaza they were in. In addition, the court tried another defendant, Berk Akand and Çağatay for fabricating evidence to conceal the murder and make it seem a suicide.
On 4 December, the court reduced the aggravated life sentence imposed on the accused Çağatay Aksu to a life sentence by applying a ‘good conduct abatement.’ As a result of the ‘good conduct abatement’ imposed on the abusers by the fascist Turkish courts, the harasser Çağatay was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months ‘imprisonment and Berk Akand received 18 years and 9 months’ imprisonment.
