HESEKÊ, WESTERN KURDISTAN
The invading Turkish state has ousted more than 300,000 civilians to forced displacement by invasion attacks against northern Syria in Rojava Kurdistan. Some of the immigrants settled in the Washokani Camp to the west of Hesekê, opened by the Autonomous Administration, while the immigrants from Girê Spî settled in the camp opened in Til Semin, north of Reqa. At least 68,000 students were deprived of their right to education because of the attacks of the invading Turkish state, which forced them to emigrate to Hesekê, Qamishlo and other cities.
The children in the Washokani Camp, deprived of their educational rights due to the occupation attacks, recently called for the opening of a school in the camp. The Hesekê Education and Training Committee, which took action upon the call of children, opened a school in the camp.
Speaking to Nuce Ciwan, teacher Lorîn from Serêkanîye stated that there are up to 1,100 students across the camp. “We will fulfil the demand of the students deprived of education rights because of the occupation attacks,” Lorîn stated.
Lorîn said that they would use the 11 tents they had set up in the camp as classrooms and that 50 teachers were assigned to the camp.
