TIL TEMIR, ROJAVA
YPJ fighters have who continue to resist against all physical and moral violence being inflicted by the occupying Turkish state and gangs, spoke to Nuce Ciwan correspondents at Til Temir.
YPJ fighters, Özgür Efrîn and Agirî Girê Spî, emphasised that the resistance and struggle developed under the leadership of the YPJ has played an important role in the struggle against violence against women.
YPJ fighter Özgür Efrîn stated: “Every 25 November, the torture being imposed on women comes to mind. We define 25 November as a day of fighting violence against women. Women live in unfairness in society and die unrecognized.
The Rojava Revolution started and proclaimed the YPJ, and even before that, women went up in the mountains and struggled against this violence developed against women by adopting the ideology of Leader Apo with the will and power of our position. When we talk about it, we think of Martyr Berîtan, Martyr Arîn, Avesta and Barîn This violence on women continues everywhere and under any circumstances. If we submit to torture and persecution, the YPJ would not exist today.”
Fighter Özgür pointed out that the YPJ’s resistance has broken the chains of the woman’s slavery, and that it continues to do so. “Nobody knew what the woman was capable of and who she truly is. The priority for the woman was to sit at home and to serve. But now the whole world is talking about the resistance that women have developed under the leadership of women, everyone is talking about how the woman will resist against the enemy and violence with great will. With the stance of the YPJ, many things were rewritten, the chains of slavery are broken.”
Emphasizing that women should always be the first to rebel against violence and persecution, Özgür continued; “we do not accept the violence and torture on women which has been imposed for years. And in our resistance, we do accept any less than to achieve that which is left to us by martyr Berîtan and Martyr Zilan.
YPJ warrior Agirî Girê Spî, highlighting that women should never accept slavery and surrender, said: “Everyone who has saved herself from a difficult life knows the meaning of being a woman. All they were ever told was that the woman had rights, but only within the framework which had been drafted for them. Today women take back their dignity, they stand upright with the YPJ.
Today, they have realised their own power, they are able to fight against everything in their way to freedom. We are carrying out our struggle for all women. We will be the voice of women in Rojava and all 4 parts, and continue until every woman is liberated. From this struggle, the word ‘woman’ has become meaningful.”
Concluding, fighter Agirî made a call to all the women of the world. “We should struggle to recognize the power and will of the woman. Women should not accept slavery and surrender. They must break the ‘rights’ they are bound to and recognize themselves. We invite all women to the resistance in the YPJ ranks.”
