Within the scope of the “Prevent Murder of Women Now” campaign, 12 women who are members of Mersin Women’s Platform, have been penalized per the “Misdemeanors Law” for a march on 12 October. The women have been fined 320 TL each.
Mersin Women’s Platform launched a campaign to prevent women’s murders on September 28 and wanted to march from Pozcu Güven Park to Baris Square. The women who were tried to be prevented by the fascist police made a press statement in the park.
Following the statement, the women walked the streets of Pozcu, making sound, and called for protests to continue every day at 20.00. After dark, the activists held purple lights.
Five out of the women who engaged in the action were fined 320 Turkish Lira, each.
