KCK Executive Council Co-Chair Cemil Bayık answered the questions of journalist Ciwan Tunç about the developments in the Middle East and the hostility against the Kurds by the Turkish state on Stêrk TV.
Cemil Bayik started his speech by saluting “the resistance of Honour in Rojava Kurdistan, the heroic people and fighters of the region who are sacrificingly resisting the Turkish occupation. I salute their struggle with respect, and commemorate the martyrs.”
Continuing, Cemil Bayik expressed that the Third World War is taking place in the Middle East. “There are two basic dimensions of the ongoing war; The first one is about the world and the second one is about the Middle East. The Middle East does not resemble other parts of the world, it has its own unique features.” In regards to the importance geographically of the Middle East, Cemil Bayik stated that “it all started in the Middle East. The Middle East is at the heart of the world. The position of the Middle East in world-balances is determinating and essential.”
“After the disintegration of the Soviets, the balance in the Middle East fell apart, creating a vacuum. The United States, which sees itself as a pioneer of capitalist modernity, has intervened in the Middle East to fill this gap. Thus began the third world war. The region could not respond to the expectations of this process by changing the power of the system, instead it served the system to create new powers.”
Status-quo no more
The KCK Co-chair explained that a new situation is being born in the Middle East as the status quo which had previously existed is no longer being accepted.
“The Middle East is undergoing intense struggle and war. Many changes have occurred, the change will continue even further. The peoples of the Middle East cannot continue their power as before. The status quo that existed before the Third World War will now change. A new situation is emerging in the Middle East.
As is known, there were opposing fronts in the First and Second World wars. The ruling forces on these fronts formed a status quo with each other after the war. However, as seen in the Third World War, the old fronts no longer exist. The ruling forces are fighting with each other just as much as they are in a relationship. On the other hand, the peoples of the region have organized themselves and are struggling.
In other words, the new status will not be determined only by the ruling forces. The rulers will not be able to create status for themselves. The struggle of the peoples also affects them. The new status and balances will be on this basis.
In other words, the struggle of the peoples of the Middle East will affect the new balances and the war in the Middle East will determine what kind of a world will exist with the new status and balances in the region.”
The Kurds are conscious
“Turkey has been trying to eliminate everything in the name of Kurdistan and the Kurds. Today, the forces leading the system in the Middle East do not attempt to wipe the Kurds out completely because they see that is not possible. They have already implemented such a policy, hence their support to Turkey, but they realized that this was not possible after seeing that the Kurds are conscious and struggling.
This is why they are unable to approach the Kurds as Turkey is doing. Undoubtedly, they are against the Kurdish Freedom Movement, the free Kurd, they have trouble using the Kurd to their own service. This situation leads to the formation of the conflict between them and Turkey. They don’t think the same. One wants to destroy the Kurd altogether, the other wants the Kurd to serve him. But this contradiction is tactical. When the freedom movement of the peoples develops, they try to prevent it. As seen in the example of Rojava.
As a pioneer of capitalist modernity, America wanted to create changes in the Middle East on its own. However, he failed. Because the system of capitalist modernity is not what it used to be, nor is the American leadership at it’s former level. Therefore, Russia and China came into play in the Middle East. Especially in Syria, they mobilized. Consequently, there are both contradictions and working together between the forces of capitalist modernity. The former opposing fronts no longer exist.”
Kurdish women represent the Neolithic revolution
“Just as the ruling forces are acting together, the peoples of the region should act together. This is happening in Rojava. This situation is also developing in the Middle East. When peoples act together, they get results. The ongoing war in the Middle East is based on these principles.
In this region, Kurdish women in Kurdistan oppose all kinds of occupation. They represent the Neolithic revolution with new methods in the present period. Kurdish women liberate all women. This affects all humanity but especially women.
If capitalist modernity tries to create new balances by ignoring the will of the peoples, the peoples will not accept it and they will resist against it. The peoples of the region no longer accept slavery.”
Organised democracy
“The peoples and forces of the region should not act solely on defense. The main feature of the Third World War is the effort to strengthen the interests of everyone. Everyone is trying to make new gains. People and revolutionaries must work hard and struggle under the conditions of the Third World War. We should not be content with the existing gains. We need to add new ones, this approach should be taken as a basis.
For freedom and liberation, local democracy needs to be given more weight. Democracy should be strongly organized in all local units, from villages to cities.
The Turkish state is the main enemy of the peoples and democratic forces of the region. Both the Kurds and the peoples of the region need to understand this well and must fight together against this invading and genocidal enemy. This is how the end result will be victory.
The Turkish state continues its invasion attempts with the courage and support it receives from the regional and international powers. The peoples of the region should fight against this by combining their power.”
American politics
“What is America’s politics? America wanted to use both Kurds and Turkey in Syria. America has always persisted on Turkey because it is a NATO member state. They formed a relationship with the Kurds, but also maintained relations with Turkey. America wanted to draw both Turkey and the Kurds closer to itself within the framework of it’s own interests. Turkey, did not accept it because they are enemy to the Kurds, instead it wanted to eliminate the Kurds.
The United States was engaged in improving relations between the Kurds and Turkey, for the both to serve him. As soon as they realized that Turkey does not accept this, they chose Turkey because it is a NATO member state.
They developed a tactical relationship with the Kurds against ISIS and when heavy blows were served to ISIS, America resumed relations with Turkey. He then developed an alliance with Turkey, he wanted to establish the safe zone within this framework. He asked the Kurds to accept it which the Kurds did not, so America opened the way for Turkey in to Rojava, Northern Syria.
Since the resistance which has developed in Rojava, Northern Syria, America has realised that if this situation is not prevented, it’s interests will be at stake. So, it developed a new alliance with Turkey. This alliance was to legitimize the invasion of Turkey.
America wanted to weaken the Kurds completely to be able to manipulate them and has tried to achieve this goal in Syria. Then Russia came into play. Seeing the America-Turkey alliance, Russia also made an alliance with Turkey. Russia saw that Turkey is very weak and wanted to benefit from this. Like this, both Russia and America have paved the way for Turkey and sacrificed the interests of both the people of Turkey and the Kurds. They have seen that the biggest weakness of the Turkish state is the Kurds.
Both America’s and Russia’s approach to the Kurds is the same. It is hostile, they support Turkey for the Kurds to be exterminated as they are unable to do this themselves. This is the truth. There is neither a ceasefire nor an effort for a solution. They pave the way for Turkey’s Kurdish genocide.
And Turkey is not hiding this. It has already announced that it is committing genocide, “I will place Turkey, Turks, and gangs, in their place” he says. So he’s trying to get revenge on the Kurds.
ISIS gangs, who had been heavily hit by the Kurds, recovered and attacked Serêkaniyê and Girê Spi, thus trying to take revenge.”
AKP is ISIS
“Stability, peace cannot be achieved easily in Syria, we should not enter such an expectation because Turkey has entered Syria with the mentality of the ISIS. The AKP is ISIS itself. All of the forces that have been used as Syrian National Army consist of gangs, ISIS and Nusra gangs. These gangs pillage, kill, do all sorts of evil.
Russia, despite the alliance between Turkey and Iran to legitimize its occupation, this situation will not continue to do so until the end.
Syria, Iran and even Russia seem to be disturbed. It is possible to identify problems between them. These problems can even lead to conflict. This possibility is high.”
