Norway’s Red Youth shared a written statement condemning the Turkish state occupation in northern Syria. Strong criticisms were directed towards the lack of support by NATO and US to the Kurdish forces defending against Turkeys attacks, and the lack of inaction to stop the attacks.
Drawing attention to the assimilation and oppression being applied to Kurds since the establishment of the Turkish state, the youth emphasised that the Turkish state is carrying its war against the PKK in Northern Kurdistan, to the PYD in Northern Syria.
The youth also touched on the correlation between the occupation in Northern Syria and the defeat Erdogan received in the Istanbul elections. “The US and Turkey have no right to be in Syria. Both the American Association of bases, as well as Turkey’s occupation, is a crime according to international law. We, as communists and anti-imperialists, defend the right of the Kurdish people to self-determination and the biggest countries violate this right”
