Lawyers for Freedom Association (ÖHD) prepared a report on the violations of rights in Kayseri Bünyan Women’s Closed Prison and Kayseri Type 2 Prison. The report stressed that the detainees were imposed arbitrary practices and handcuffed examination.
Rights violations in the report prepared by lawyers are listed as follows:
“* Prisoners have reported that they have not been provided with the publications they subscribe to. The applications made by the prisoners on this matter are rejected.
* Prisoners are not given the radios they bring from the prisons they are referred from, instead they are kept in storage. The prisoners are told to buy a new one from the prison canteen, even though they have radio.
* 2 political prisoners have been held in a cell-like room for about 1 year. It was stated that the prisoners requests to be sent back to the ward was rejected by the prison administration stating that the isolation is “ministerial instructions,” eventhough the prisoners do not have any disciplinary penalties.
* When prisoners go to the hospital, handcuffed examination is imposed and the prisoners who do not accept this are brought back without treatment.
* The right of prisoners to benefit from the 10-hour activities specified in the law is exercised by the administration for only 1.5 hours. Prisoners do not benefit from courses such as painting and computer. They are only brought to the sport. Likewise, the right to speak among the prisoners is not exercised.
* The prisoners stated that the prison administration had acted arbitrarily in violation of the legislation. ”
