In a joint press statement of the Kobanê Military Assembly and the Russian Military Police, it was stated that the purpose of the military police’s presence in the region is to protect the people from attacks and to prevent the revival of ISIS.
The Kobanê Military Assembly and the Russian Military Police issued a joint press release at the Tişrîn Dam in the south of Kobanê. General Paris, speaking on behalf of the Russian military police, said that Russia was involved in the establishment of the Tişrîn Dam.
Parîs stated that the dam provided a significant part of the electricity need and reminded that the dam was attacked by ISIS. Expressing that Russia continues to fight against ISIS, Parîs said that they will continue the struggle to prevent ISIS from returning. Parîs added that they are ready to help the peoples of Kobanê and Qamişlo and drew attention to the importance of the unity of the peoples.
Speaking afterwards, Co-chairman of the Kobanê Military Assembly, Ismet Şêx Hesen, said that during his meeting with the Russian military police, they discussed defense issues. Emphasizing the ongoing occupation attacks of the Turkish state, Şêx Hesen said, “Our aim is to protect the whole of northern and eastern Syria from the attacks. In particular, we talked about the importance of defense against attacks by Turkish state and gangs. We discussed the development of defense against gangs brought by Erdoğan from Idlib and other regions. ”
