On November 27, 1978, the anniversary of the founding of the PKK, which declared its establishment in the village of Fîs in the district of Licê in Amed, was celebrated with torched marches.
With the call of Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger (Revolutionairy Youth Movement) and Jinên Ciwan ên Azad (Free Young Women Platform), the Kurdistanis and their friends who came together in marches in the cantons of Bern, Basel and Ticino of Switzerland, celebrated the 42nd anniversary of the PKK.
Meeting at 18:00 on the Claramatte Square in Basel, the Kurdistanis and their friends began to march behind a large PKK flag. During the march, the slogan “Long live the PKK ”and “Bijî Serok APO (Long Live Leader Apo)” were shouted frequently in German and Kurdish. During the rally that lasted about half an hour, slogans were shouted to support the Rojava Revolution and the Resistance of Honor, where the paradigm of the People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan came to life. The activists who terminated the march in Dreirosenbrücke ended the action with the halay taken after statements were made.
In a second action, the Kurds and their friends gathered in Reitschule at Bern at 19:00 and marched to the city center. After the march in the city center, the activists came back to Reitschule, where they made a brief statement and held a tribute to the martyrs of the revolution. Celebrating the establishment of the party with halays around the fire they lit in the area, the youth ended their activities at the end of about 2 hours.
Another celebration in Switzerland was held in the city of Bellinzona in the canton of Ticino. At 17.30 pm, upon the call of TCŞ and JCA, the people of Kurdistan and their friends gathered in front of Bellinzona post office. The youth held banners reading: “Defend Rojava, don’t let the occupation” and the flags of the People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the PKK were held. The march ended with a short rally in Piazza Collegiata.
