In a written statement released by the YPJ General Commandership, the martyrdom of commanders Zeynep Felat (Pınar Yilmaz) and Nergiz Sewis (Sosin Yoksul) was announced.
“We commemorate the martyrs of the Honour Resistance and all the martyrs of the revolution in the person of Comrades Zeynep and Nergiz, who are the pioneers of the Serêkaniyê resistance. We repeat our promises to the martyrs. We wish condolences to all our people, especially the families of Nergiz and Zeynep.
The Free People revolution has created many pioneers, heroes and courageous women in the past 9 years. Comrades Zeynep and Nergiz, with their courageous hearts, were among the women fighting in the cause of their country. Our comrades Nergiz and Zeynep showed great effort at the beginning of the revolution. Under the leadership of resisting women, our revolution took the color of the women’s revolution. This truth arose both in the legitimate defense war and in the will of our people in the hope of survival.
Comrades Zeynep and Nergiz played important roles at the level of the pioneer female commanders in the fight against the ISIS gangs and in the war. They fulfilled their historical responsibilities in battle, and sacrificed much in their lives with the spirit of accountability and responsibility.
With their sacrifices in life, their determination in the struggle and their experiences gained in the war, they have always been an example for their comrades and in the commitment to the cause of the country. Comrades Nergiz and Zeynep have always fought with a matriotic spirit as commanders and country lovers.
On October 9, the Turkish occupying army launched an occupation campaign aimed at the gains of North-East Syria in order to exterminate and destroy the peoples. Against this occupation, the Honor Resistance was initiated with great effort, sacrifice and costs under the leadership of our comrades and commanders Zeynep and Nergiz.
In Serêkaniye, two of our comrades took part in the battle for the protection of human dignity with great faith and determination in the struggle. Despite the heavy attacks of the Turkish state and the brutal Al Nusra gangs, both of our comrades resisted the invaders’ tanks, artillery and warplanes until the end, and were also examples of the Honor Resistance.
Once again in the person of Comrades Nergiz and Zeynep, we have seen that our cause for the sake of our lives, is justified. Comrades Zeynep and Nergiz showed us their insistence on free life with their own lives, struggles, hopes and beliefs. The martyrdom of our two comrades is also a strong reminder for us to be determined in the struggle for freedom. We protect our martyrs with this responsibility and we will always do so.
On this basis, we once again commemorate Comrades Zeynep and Nergiz, who are the pioneers of the Honor Resistance, and reiterate our promise to our martyrs. We wish our condolences to the people of North-East Syria and the families of our comrades.
