The proceedings of the case opened against 70 citizens who were arrested after being detained on 26 May 2016 during the curfew imposed in Mêrdîn’s Nisêbîn district are continuing. 5 trials were held today by the occupying Mêrdîn 4th High Criminal Court.
The proceedings began with the hearing of Nurullah Akyüz, who was first brought from Elaziz Type-T Prison in which he was detained. Nurullah said that his defense writing was confiscated by the prison for three months and that he was not given the right to defense although he wrote several petitions. “I cannot make a defense under these circumstances,” said Nurullah Akyüz. “I would like the court to meet with the prison administration and demand that my defense be returned to me, only this way I can make my defense.”
The court adjourned Nurullah’s hearing to 5 December.
Then Bevar Başar, who was brought from Osmaniye Type-T Prison, proceeded. Following the defence the invading court adjourned the trial to November 15, when a delegation expect to decide.
Later followed the trial of Mehmet Ziriğ who was present with his lawyer. Mehmet, who was brought from the Osmaniye Type-T Prison demanded a refusal of the judge. The invading court dismissed this request, with the appeal open. The hearing was postponed to 31 October.
The trial of Ferhat Doğan and under age G.M. was postponed.
