LONDON
Hundreds of students and members of the public gathered at the University of SOAS yesterday for a panel organised by the Kurdistan Students Union (YXK) in London, where the illegal invasion of Rojava and North-East Syria was discussed.
Joined by YPJ commander Zinarî Qamîşlo via Skype, HDP MP Osman Baydemir, UK Kongre-star representative Rohash Shexo, Freedom for Ocalan campaigner Simon Dubbins and University of Oxford research fellow Dilar Dirik, the panel consisted of discussions on topics such as the war crimes committed by the Turkish state, attacks on Kurdish and Middle Eastern women, use of prohibited weapons and the future of Rojava.
Osman Baydemir repeatedly reminded the culpability of every Western country for the bloodshed in Kurdistan and Syria while YPJ commander Qamişlo warned that the situation is a lot more critical than how it is portrayed in mainstream media.
