Two more of the trial proceedings opened against 70 people, who were detained during the 2016 self-government period, was held today. 17 of the detained are children.
The first trial of Nubahar Özdemir, who is being detained in Xarpêt Women’s Closed Prison was held in Mêrdîn 4th High Criminal Court.
Nubahar joined her trial via Audio and Video Information System (SEGBIS) and rejected the claims against her. The court postponed the hearing to 27 November, so that the prosecutor’s office would prepare its verdict. In addition, it was decided that Nubahar attend the next hearing.
Later was the trial of Hevidar Dolaşır who is being detained in Kayseri Women’s Closed Prison. Hevidar was present during the hearing which started with the judges question: “what is your occupation?” to which Hevidar replied “I am a freedom seeker.” Later Hevidar shared that she would not be able to make her defense as her written defense was hurriedly taken by prison officials before the hearing.
The court then adjourned the hearing to 10 December.
