EDENE – NORTHERN KURDISTAN

In Izmir Sakran Type-T Prison, 57 prisoners have been punished by the prison administration for protesting the Turkish state’s attack on Rojava Kurdistan and Northern Syria.

It was stated that the prosecution opened an investigation against the detainees for ”making propaganda for an illegal organization.”

Fatma Cığ, mother of one of these prisoners, said the following:

“They were sentenced to 11 days of isolation punishment for protesting the operation against Rojava. So far this penalty has not been applied. They will also take us to court.” Mother Cig, also stated that her son went on a hunger strike for the leader of the people, Abdullah Ocalan and that they were subjected to constant violations of rights in prison. The mother demanded that all political prisoners be released and this persecution ended. “They protested for the end of this persecution. Against this persecution, they were sentenced to 11 days of isolation each. ”
