Public Defense Center Headquarters Commander Murat Karayılan answered the questions of Serdar Yektaş in the Special Program he participated in Dengê Welat radio. Karayılan made the following evaluations:
TURKISH GOVERNMENT IS COMMITTING GENOCIDE IN FRONT OF THE WORLD
“First of all, I must say that we are going through a very historical period. The occupying Turkish state is practicing the brutal and barbaric genocide policy on the territory of North-East Syria before the eyes of the whole world. He is waging a very uneven and disproportionate war. On the one hand there is the people of North-East Syria, who are resisting only with their weapons for their honor, dignity, existence and freedom, and on the other hand a barbarian state with advanced techniques of the age. There is such an unjust war. The war is not only disproportionate and unjust, but the colonial Turkish state is carrying out a genocide by attacking the people of North-East Syria, and the whole society.
In 1915, they passed through the genocide of the Armenian people, and in the course of the next 100 years, they carried out the same genocide policy on the Kurdish people in pieces, aiming to bring this genocide to the summit with the occupation they are trying to realize today. They want to achieve Kurdish genocide not only in Northern Kurdistan, but by taking all the national borders.
The current politics of the Turkish state is genocide politics. They want to realize the same policy on all the Syrian peoples, especially the Kurdish and Arab peoples. This is a move that the AKP-MHP fascist regime is making against the people of Turkey and especially the workers.
AN ATTACK AGAINST HUMANITY
The colonial Turkish army, al-Nusra gangs, ISIS and al-Qaeda surplus gangs are arm to arm in the attacks on North-East Syria. This attack is essentially to save ISIS from extinction. In this context, it is actually an attack against all humanity. Maybe some of them react to this attack, but unfortunately they are limited only to this.
A very reckless attack is being carried out in front of everyone’s eyes. In North-East Syria, there is no war against insurgents! The places where they first attacked and bombed were the hospitals, the civilian settlements, the water tanks and the public bakeries. He is also trying to aid the escape of ISIS prisoners by bombing the prisons around the prison where the ISIS members are detained.
COALITION SAYS WE ARE AGAINST THE OCCUPATION, THEN THEY SHOULD CLOSE THE AIR SPACE
The Turkish State is doing this openly before the eyes of the whole world. These barbaric practices against humanity are taking place before the eyes of the coalition forces, and they follow. Now, these coalition forces declare that they are against this occupation. If they really condemn this occupation, then they should close the North-East Syrian airspace to the Turkish state. If they do this, a balance will develop and TC will be unable to carry out the atrocities against civilians by air attacks. If they don’t, then these forces are not sincere, they are hypocritical. This is an obvious fact. This is behind the scenes of the current invasion attack. It is purely on the basis of interests. So it was developed as a conspiracy. Some hegemonic forces saw this occupation in their interests and gave way to AKP-MHP barbarism.
CENGA ROJAVA RESISTANCE
This is the first time in the history of the Kurdish people’s liberation case, resistance to the existence of this level of ownership, support situation is developing. Although some forces conspired and betrayed, the peoples of the world and public opinion stood up and reacted against it. From America to India, there is a reaction and attitude towards this occupation. This is indeed a very strong support, a great opportunity for the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle. The resistance of the QSD fighters and our people will overcome the barbarism of the genocidal colonists with the strong public support. This has opportunities and facilities.
Today, on the one hand, the invading Turkish state and the genocidal fascists are using savagery on our people, on the peoples of North-East Syria and developing reckless attacks, martyrdoms are taking place, a great example of sacrifice is shown and the burden of our people is heavy. But, on the other hand, we have an enemy who is facing serious problems, struggling with crises and who is left alone in the world. We believe that these facts will lead the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle to victory. The Kurdish people and all the peoples of the region will not be the genocidal Turkish fascists who will win the Cenga Rojava Resistance.
THE TURKISH STATE IS BOMBING NUSAYBIN ITSELF
Unfortunately, we are faced with a fascist enemy who is a hypocrite, a liar, a scoundrel, who has nothing true and honest, and who can destroy thousands of people for his own benefit. This is the mindset of Erdogan and Bahceli.
In Nusaybin, they were the same barbarians who brutally attacked the people of Nusaybin, saying, “we will leave no head on a body.” Now they say, ‘QSD shot Nusaybin, Akçakale and Suruç. But the QSD officials made a statement and said it was a lie, that no ball, no mortar was thrown around. Our patriotic Nusaybin people acted courageously, revealing the truth of the incident. The images were reflected in the press, it has been made clear that the bombs were thrown from Turkish occupied land. In other words, the Turkish state itself places the direction of its mortars to Nusaybin and bombs them. This was revealed by the people of Nusaybin, the patriots there. The same thing happened in Suruç.
So why do they deliberately throw mortars at Nusaybin and Suruç? Because they know that these are strong patriotic districts. By performing these attacks, they want to shoot two birds with one stone: First; They want to slaughter our people in Nusaybin and Suruç, to strike them down, to create a coldness between them and the Party, thus demoralizing them. The second one; They want to create the perception that ‘the QSD is killing civilians and that is why we are operating on the QSD’.
The AKP-MHP fascist is bombing the children and women in Suruç, Nusaybin and killing our people to realize their insidious plans. They are so low, two-sided and foolish. He wants to realize his dirty aims by declaring that the QSD made these attacks, martyring our own people who reside on the other side of the occupation border. That is why the QSD made a statement and stated that they had not fired any cannons and mortars to Northern Kurdistan. And why would the QSD bomb these places? Like everyone, all QSD commanders and fighters know who Nusaybin and Suruç support. These are all things that Erdoğan and Bahçeli personally stood under. Let all our people know that the killing of civilian people in Suruç and Nusaybin was carried out by these fascists. We speak so confidently and with certainty that we personally receive information and verify how the incident took place. Already the resulting images showed that the mortars thrown to Nusaybin and Suruç are of MKE (Mechanical Chemical Industry) origin, and our people were martyred in this way. They are martyrs of our struggle.
THERE IS A REWRITING OF HISTORY
Our people in Rojava are in great resistance. Of course, it is not easy to exhibit such resistance. We feel and live this resistance from the heart. As mentioned before; we are always with our people. Every resistance has its difficulties and its costs. Our people undergo such a process of resistance. There has been a great and sacred resistance for four days. There history is being rewritten. The resistance of the fighters of QSD, YPG, YPJ and the resistance of our people is really historical and very valuable especially in Serêkaniye, Gıirê Spi’ and all along the border line.
On this occasion, I congratulate all the insurgents and greet them with love and wish them success. I respectfully remember all the hero martyrs who have fallen for this cause. We have been informed that Hewrin Xelef, co-chair of the Syrian Future Party, was martyred as a result of a treacherous attack. I regard all the martyrs of this sacred and honorable resistance as our own martyrs, I commemorate them with gratitude and declare that their revenge will be taken.
TC ATTACKS TO AUTONOMOUS MANAGEMENT AND SYSTEM
North-eastern Syria has nothing to do with North Kurdistan or Turkey. Now some of them come out and associate the structure and this war with the PKK. However, it has nothing to do with the PKK. True, the PKK has a responsibility over all the parts of Kurdistan, but it is a country where 5 million people live. It has its own autonomous management. This administration consists of Kurdish, Arab, and Assyrian peoples. There is a genocidal attack against these people in North-East Syria. The Turkish state is not fighting any organization there. It attacks the autonomous government and the system there. Everyone should know that the Kurds do not accept the attacks of TC and want to live autonomously. While attacking North-East Syria with cannons and planes, he does not think to whom are these bombs, whether Arabs, Kurds, Assyrians are dying! This fascist regime is hostile to the system in North-East Syria and the people there, and attacks all of them.
AKP-MHP WANTS TO REVIVE ISIS
The US President says, “the Kurds and the Turks have been fighting for 200 years and we have withdrawn from them.” Whoever gave this information to him had lied a big lie.
When have the Kurds in Rojava of Kurdistan fought with Turkey? Had a single bullet been fired across the border? North-East where he fought against the people of Syria to Turkey? There is no such thing. These are false propaganda to justify the genocidal occupation. As the PKK, we have been in war with T.C. for 41 years, this is true. Where we are and who we are is certain. We are fighting this war today, until we provide the freedom of our people. But we are not there, we are in the mountains of Kurdistan. But they want to eliminate the people of Rojava because these powers are against the democratic system of the people and the status of the Kurdish people. They also try to do this in alliance with the bloody ISIS and al-Nusra gangs. Here we see, they want to breakfree imprisoned ISIS members. This will cause a great deal of trouble for the whole region. So this invasion attack is against all humanity.
Since the AKP-MHP knows that it will lose and run out, it wants to start a new era in the region, invade these regions in order to develop new Ottomanism, and become dominant in Syria and revive ISIS as a stick that it can use against all the people of the region and the world. Such a game is being played.
Our people in Rojava have done the same for 8 years, just as they have shown a unique sacrifice and resistance for humanity and the whole world. So everyone should know; The Cenga Rojava Resistance is a sacred human resistance.
THE ENEMY TACTIC IS EMPTYING CITIES, OUR PEOPLE SHOULD NOT GO TO ANYWHERE
The main tactic of the enemy is to force people to emigrate and evacuate the cities. For this, he applies the tactic of fear and aims to displace people by hitting around villages and cities. I should also make it clear that the existing media organs sometimes become unknowingly this psychological instrument. True, the enemy shoots civilian people, but their main purpose is to slaughter some of the people, to scare others into emigration, and to bring and recruit their gangs. He wants to carry out ethnic cleansing and demographic change in this region. That is why our people should not be afraid at all and everyone should stay at their place. No one should make mistakes like in Efrin, our people should not go anywhere and everyone should stay in their own home, on the street, in the city. This is very, very important and strategic. This is because the main tactic of the enemy is on this basis and it must be frustrated in this way.
We need to know that the enemy wants to evacuate and displace our people with intense technical strokes and psychological warfare. Everybody should act on this basis and be sensitive and alert to the psychological war of the enemy.
A GREAT VICTORY CAN BE ACHIEVED IF CHESTS ARE MADE SHIELDS
As of now, there is a historical resistance in Serêkaniye and Girê Spi. After a while, these places can be taken to the siege. No one should be afraid of being besieged. Even the resistance developed in only a few neighborhoods, not in all cities like Nusaybin, Şırnak, Cizre and Sur, has survived for months and stopped the Turkish army. Therefore, the encircled can be easily resisted, and if the right way-methods are struggled, it will be definite.
Just because they’re besieging a place doesn’t mean they’re going to take it right away. This war will continue in a variety of ways, with different tactics. Our people should continue their courageous stance and insist on their resistance. The 4-day resistance proves that the QSD and the YPG can play a historical role and write a new history as in Kobane. These insurgents fighting against such a barbarian and brutal enemy by shielding their chests can create a great victory.
