Martyr Hevrîn Xelef’s mother started her speech by sending her condolences to our leadership and people. Describing the life and struggle of Hevrîn, the mother stated that Martyr Hevrîn was altruistic and friendly.
Mother Suad explained that martyr Hevrîn was her first daughter after having 4 sons, Hevrîn was born. Hevrîn wanted to study medicine, but her score was decreased by the school, just because she is Kurdish. When I went to the school and asked why did you cut her score, they said, “she should just study whatever subject her points are enough for. And you should not bother us too much.” Hevrîn went to Aleppo and studied English language and literature.
Hevrîn had friends from all walks of life. She had friends who were Arab, Turkmen, Christian, and she never discriminated. Among her friends she was always loved.
When the Rojava War started, Hevrîn opened the Nuri Dersimi Institution and made efforts to educate the people on their own culture and brotherhood, on their own mother tongues regardless of their language or race.
HEVRÎN TIRELESSLY WORKED FOR THE PEOPLE
Talking about the desire of Martyr Hevrîn to work for her people, mother Suad shared that “Hevrîn saw her work as insufficient and always pushed herself to do more. She would work incessantly, and she would work more. From economy, till electricity, she would always do what she can to help the public. And she always stood by the people governing themselves.
Later, she became the co-chairman of the Future Party of Syria. ”
ERDOĞAN FASCISM COULDN’T TOLERATE HEVRIN’S WORK
The mother stated that the invading Erdoğan and United States could not tolerate the evolving works and that is why they brutally martyred Hevrîn. “For 2 years the party has been developing day by day, but in the face of this, fascist Erdogan did not want it to develop. They did not want the brotherhood of the peoples. They wanted to destroy it. Her work was improving day by day, and Erdoğan had a thorn in his throat, and his situation was no different to his older brother in the United States. When they couldn’t stop the work, they wanted to destroy it, and the hand of America’s, they ambushed my precious.”
On the day, at 18:55 my phone rang. Her brother had answered, and told me that Hevrîn was ringing. As he answered we heard Arabic being spoken but when we responded there was no answer. We spoke in Arabic at first, and then in Kurdish but there was still no answer. I don’t know if she called me before the ambush, or during it to let me know.”
WOMEN MUST NOT GIVE IN TO FASCISM
The mother stated that Martyr Hevrîn is not the first martyr and that she will not be the last; and Hevrîn has walked her path, and made her struggle stronger for all women comrades who have fallen martyr in this struggle.
“She will neither not be our first martyr, nor will she be our last. Let us look at comrade Bese, comrade Azimeye, the comrades from the dungeons of Amed, comrade Zilan. Like the struggle of Arin Mirkan and Avesta, my Hevrîn threw herself in front of the flames and became a martyr without compromising the resistance of the woman. She was martyred without bowing her head to them.
This attack on Hevrîn was made on the idea of humanity against women, against Kurdish and Arab women in Hevrîn’s person. They murdered my daughter inhumanely. And I am the plaintiff of Erdogan, and I will not give up my case. Anyone in the world who calls herself a woman must unite against this attack. It should not pass against fascism. Women are nobody’s honor, women are their own and they should be able to struggle. ”
At the end of her speech, mother Suad concludes by saying “long live the women’s resistance, women’s life, and freedom.”
