At the present session of the Iraqi Parliament, it was decided that provincial councils would be dissolved. On the other hand, it was decided that the governors would continue their duties and also deal with electricity, finance and other problems of the provinces.
One of the decisions was the cancellation of non-salary allowances and other privileges granted to the President, Prime Minister and Speaker of the Assembly and all senior government officials.
Parliament also decided to establish a commission for the constitutional amendment. The drafted constitutional amendment is to be prepared by the Commission and will be submitted to the Presidency of Parliament within 4 months at the latest.
According to a report by the BasNews newspaper, a senior official from the Southern Kurdistan government said that if the new regulations to be made under the Iraqi laws are detrimental to the public, they will demand confederalism status.
