KERKUK

Following the killing of Osman Köse, responsible for MIT’s Southern Kurdistan desk on July 17 in Hewlêr, the embargo of the KDP on the Mexmur Refugee Camp continues, while reactions to the embargo also continue. A group of young people in Kirkuk protested against the KDP’s impediments and stated that an inhuman embargo is being imposed against Mexmur.

Dılzar Kerkûki made a press statement on behalf of the youth:

“An embargo on Mexmur Refugee Camp has been ongoing for days. As young people from Kirkuk, we do not accept the invasion of the fascist Turkish state. In addition, we do not accept the obstacles of the Kurdistan Region and Iraqi forces against the Mexmur Camp.

The people of the camp are prevented from going to Hewlêr and other Kurdistan Region cities.” Dılzar Kerkûkî stated that there are many children and elderly people in the camp and said: “These people are not allowed to go to the hospital.”

Dılzar Kerkûkî stated that the embargo against the Mexmur Camp was inhuman and said: “We call for the end of the embargos on the Mexmur Camp as soon as possible.”
