ŞIRNAK – The Governor of Şırnak has banned all activities and actions in the city for 15 days. As reason for the ban he explicitly cited the appointment of trustees to the three HDP-run metropolitan municipalities of Amed, Van and Mardin.

In the statement, the Governor said: “Any action and activity which may be organised in the province of Şırnak related to the dismissal of the Mayors of Diyarbakır, Van and Mardin are banned. The actions banned are any activity to take place in open areas, press releases, memorials, sit-in, opening stands, setting up tents, distributing leaflets, protests and so on. All actions and activities are banned from 23 August 2019 at 00.01 to 6 September 2019 at 24:00.

The ban was actually imposed 3 days after the dismissal of the mayors had actually been carried out.
