The ongoing human shield action launched by the youth of Bashur has reached day 42 in Qendil, and day 32 in Bradost.
As is known, both areas where the actions have been launched are active war zones where the Turkish state is carrying out occupation operations, with the aid of the KDP. The demands of the youth in these actions is, firstly, that the KDP stops collaborating with the Turkish state in the bombing and killing of people under its government. And secondly, that these attacks come to an end.
The KDP’s role in these occupations is not limited to silence, but in fact, it has been made clear that they are the masterminds behind the attacks. Since the start of the human shield action, we have witnessed many massacres and many traitorous collaborations. The youth themselves have been threatened, abducted, detained and tortured by the KDP.
We have watched the KDP hand over uncountable amounts of hills under their control to the Turkish state, giving them the foothold necessary to commit such atrocities. We have seen the Turkish state bomb and burn civilians after gaining hold of these hills, in order to drive the people out of their land. We have been shown proof that the KDP’s interests are aligned with those of the fascist Turkish state; the KDP has personally spoken to villagers who oppose Turkish occupation in attempts to silence them, and to such an extent, that they have dispersed agents to visit markets of the people to influence them. We heard the screeching silence of the KDP on the attacks in Maxmur, and the travel embargos put in place after the attacks so the people cannot leave. It was wanted that they are on standby until the Turkish state massacres them.
The point where KDP reached a point of no return was with its aid in the martyrdom of KCK council member, comrade Helmet; a guerrilla of 25 years, when coordinates of his location were handed to the Turkish state.
The martyrdom of comrade Helmet is in fact not as clear as it seems. Along with being an important figure within the PKK, comrade Helmet is an important figure with his serious and extensive work in terms of national unity. The concept of national unity, being the enemy’s biggest nightmare, is exactly what is attacked first, because with unity there is strength -especially within a society where every member is a warrior.
What we must pay attention to, as the revolutionary children of the world, is where our attention and efforts are being channelled to. Why have the hunger strike actions been drawn so much attention to, while tens of youth who stand on the soils that determine the future of Kurdistan, using their lives as shields, standing against bombs so they do not touch a fighter of the Kurdistan Freedom Forces? The reason among other things, is that these actions do not directly affect us, or the ten people in our immediate surroundings. Or we are made to believe so.
