Nationalism, the main ideological movement of the 1900s, is the mainstay of nationalization and nation-state construction. There are plenty of historical examples of nationalism-fed states’ intolerance to differences, assimilation and massacres, even genocidal practices. The cadres of the Committee of Union and Progress, which accelerated the collapse of the Ottoman Empire by World War I, were affected as much as possible by nationalism, the plague of the era.
They poured the nationalism into the Anatolian territory as much as they could. They poisoned and polarized the peoples who had acquired a culture of brotherly coexistence from ethnic diversity to belief differences. Although the Committee of Union and Progress initially adopted ideological versions such as legitimism, Ottomanism, then Turkism, Turanianism, and then Westernism and Islamism, it was essentially Turkish nationalism.
In order to create a nation of Turkishness, they resorted to incredible massacres and ethnic cleansing. The ideology of nationalism, with pitch black fascism, signed the biggest massacre and deportation of history in the name of the dominant nation. Armenians, Pontus and Greeks were erased from history. The Kurds regretted their existence. They wanted to get results by intertwining massacre and assimilation. They wanted to patch the Kurds into the Turkish nation’s design by means of an oriental reform plan and a compulsory resettlement law. Today, denial and destruction projects are continuing with special laws and laws such as the collapse plan.
The trio of Talat Pasha, Cemal Pasha and Enver Pasha distinguished themselves as pioneers, ardent defenders and practical practitioners of nationalism. The three pashas gave direction to Ottoman politics and served as a father to the formation of the Turkish Republic. Talat Pasha is one of the pioneers of this idea. He is responsible for the first degree of the Armenian deportation. The Union and Progress, which means “Unity and Progress”, ensured “unity and progress by massacring the peoples.
Tayyip’s Justice and Development Party is an updated version of the Committee of Union and Progress. Talat Pasha was replaced by Tayyip Pasha. Its target is the Kurds.
The Young Turks played an important role in the creation of the Turkish nation, in nationalization and in the establishment of a nation state. On the road to the nation-state, every method used in the construction of the sovereign nation is considered as acceptable.
The ideology of nationalism is the source and the gang-state of the problems. AKP, who polished this idea and fed it to the Turkish society by dipping it into Islamic sauce; based on this idea continues its power. AKP’s Islamic nationalism is a heavy price for Turkey. Political instability, pillage and rent based on the economic crisis, military occupation and invasion, aggression and expansionism, include all kinds of lawlessness, social decay, moral collapse, cultural decadence, and in foreign policy hit the entrapment and deadlock Turkey’s feet are shackles.
The aim of Islamic nationalism is the liquidation of Kurds. It is not the Kurds but the sovereigns that are able to create the Kurdish problem. Tayyip went from saying “The Kurdish problem is my problem” to“There is no Kurdish problem.” By saying that a people do not exist, of course, they will not disappear. But this is a mindset that produces violence and conflict. Three pashas of the Ottomans were the designers of this mentality.
Nationalist adventurers dragged the country into disaster and fled abroad, but they could not escape the disaster they had paid with their lives. Talat Pasha was assassinated in Berlin and Cemal Pasha in Tbilisi. Enver Pasha’s adventurous Sarikamis expedition to death in Bukhara, where he took refuge after leaving 90,000 dead.
Talat Pasha, like Tayyip Pasha, adds a whole new dimension of colour to Islamic violence. We are confronted with Tayyip pasha; the representative of the mentality that flags Islamic Nationalism produces enemies, distributes society and sociality, marginalizes, disregards and even destroys different beliefs and ethnic identities. A Pasha which makes his predecessors seem merciful.
Turkism will end in the attempt to finish the Kurds. This is a reality they cannot escape. Kurdish geography has never been home to the persecutors, and it will not be thereafter. The end of Tayyip could be visualised as a truck with the brake popped at the cost of being a Pasha. the losses they’ve caused Turkey and Turkishness are irreparable.
Islamic nationalism, the AKP-MHP partnership is a death trap against the peoples. Our peoples should realize and avoid this trap. With the invasion of southern Kurdistan, the Turkish Republic further revealed its intentions. The martyrdom of Diyar Xerîb (Helmet) friend who was martyred in the lowly attacks, is instructive in every aspect.
Diyar Xerîb, the matriotic people of the south, the revolutionary democrats were massacred. Kurdish hostility will continue to expand and deepen. Our people have the right to fight, legitimate defence and counter-attack in every field.
