ZURICH

On 20 July 2015, many revolutionary young people came to Pirsûs (Suruç) district of Riha to bring toys to Kobane children and take part in the construction work. 33 revolutionaries who were martyred as a result of ISIS attack in Pirsûs were commemorated today in Zurich, Switzerland.

upon the call made by Zurich Youth Platform, Turkish and Kurdish youth gathered at the commemoration held at the Revolution Square. The crowds also congratulated the Rojava anniversary. After the opening speech on behalf of the platform, a moment of silence was held in memory of those who lost their lives in the struggle for revolution and socialism. In the memory of 33 travellers, 33 was written with candles and a banner with the words “Justice for Suruç, Justice for All” was opened. Photographs of those who lost their lives were carried out and the slogans “Justice for Suruç, Justice for all” and “Long live revolutionary solidarity” were shouted.

Suruç veteran Güneş Erzurumluoğlu made a speech at the commemoration of the sit-in. Erzurumluoğlu said in her speech: As socialist youth, our aim was to carry hope to children. By participating in the reconstruction of Kobane, our ideals, our dreams and the land of the revolution against ISIS in the fight against the blood of our comrades who were martyred. Contrary to Erdoğan who said Kobanê fell and will fall, we were on our way to celebrate the victory, we were massacred in this way. But we haven’t lost hope, we’re still on the streets and in the fields. We will continue to scream out our demand for justice for Suruç, justice everywhere,” she said.

After the speech of Erzurumluoğlu, the German declaration was read and the memorial was ended after a music concert given in memory of Pirsûs Martyrs.
