EDENE

Fascist Commissioner Oktay Kapsız and the police under his command were detained while he was working in Beşiktaş in Istanbul in 2010 and he was prosecuted for causing death by torture.

Oktay Kapsız and the police officers who were arrested after being prosecuted by the Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office nine years ago for causing death by torture were charged with life imprisonment and put into the Paşakapısı Prison in Üsküdar.

Oktay Kapsız and police officers Ramazan Adıgüzel and Abdülcelil Karadağ, Gürbüz Kurnaz, Osman Ölker and Yalçın Beşikçi appeared before the Istanbul 2nd High Criminal Court.

The court decided to acquit Gürbüz Kurnaz, Osman Ölker and Yalçın Beşikçi, while Commissioner Oktay Kapsız, police officers Ramazan Adıgüzel, Murat Ertürk and Abdülcelil Karadağ’s sentences were reduced due to ‘good conduct’.

Oktay Kapsız and the policemen who were sentenced to life imprisonment were on trial without arrest.

Oktay Kapsız, nicknamed “Lonely Wolf”, is still working as Çukurca District Police Chief.
