The PKK Executive Committee issued a message on the 19th anniversary of the Rojava revolution, which began with the seizure of government in Kobane on 19 July 2012.
Celebrating the revolution, the PKK expressed its belief that the eighth year would be a year in which much more powerful and organized revolutionary steps would be taken and successes would be achieved.
The message of the PKK is as follows:
We are experiencing the seventh anniversary of the July 19 Freedom Revolution, which shines as a star of freedom in the 21st-century world. First of all, as they have achieved such a great revolutionary outlook that enlightens our future as all peoples and humanity, it is necessary for the peoples of North and East Syria, women and young people, all the liberation forces organized in YPG-YPJ and QSD, all Kurdistan people, especially Rojava, and free humanity. We congratulate everyone who contributed to the coalition and their efforts, we salute their historical victory against fascist ISIS gangs and wish them continued revolutionary success. We commemorate our heroic martyrs, the creators of this historical revolutionary action, with respect and gratitude in the person of Martyr Silan, Xebat, Arin, Gelhat, Rubar, Karker and Avesta. We believe that their memories will live in Democratic Syria and Free Kurdistan.
As it is known, the July 19 Rojava Freedom Revolution was a free-human revolution, a free-women revolution, the liberation revolution of all the oppressed, the brotherhood revolution of the peoples, the democratic revolution of all anti-fascist forces. For seven years they have defended and developed themselves in a relentless war against fascist ISIS and al-Qaeda gangs. Thus, it paved the way for Democratic Syria and the whole Arab democracy, as well as guaranteeing the victory of the Kurdistan Freedom Revolution.
From the outset, it formed an ambitious and brilliant implementation of the Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan’s line of freedom. We believe that it will preserve these characters in the eighth revolution and will develop and achieve democratic nation-building with great assertion and effort on the basis of total public defence against any invading-genocidal fascist attack.
As it is known, ISIS is not a temporary force. It is the manifestation of a warrior and genocidal fascist nation-state mentality, ideology and politics in today’s world and the Middle East, shaped by Union and Progress, which was the Ottoman Administration during the First World War.
Therefore, the Kobani Resistance and the Rojava Revolution have shown that there is a fascist-genocidal mentality and politics, which ISIS represents, and on the other hand, there is an antifascist democratic mentality and politics in which everyone freely organizes and lives. For this reason, ISIS, being defeated in northern and eastern Syria, has become a fascist, colonialist and genocidal mentality and politics. What threatens Rojava today is this ISIS mentality and politics, which have not actually been defeated.
We believe that the peoples of northern and eastern Syria and the liberation forces will take a victorious stance against these forces, which have the same mentality and politics as ISIS, and especially against AKP-MHP fascism.
Our people living in all four parts of Kurdistan and abroad are proud of achieving a revolutionary outbreak like the Rojava Freedom Revolution. It never forgets that it does this with the leadership line, the courage and sacrifice of the heroic martyrs, with the power and support of all oppressed and peoples, especially women and youth.
On this basis, in its eighth year, Rojava will mobilize all its strength to protect and develop itself. We believe that the eighth year will be a year in which much more powerful and organized revolutionary steps are taken and successes are achieved.
With this belief, we greet the anniversary of the July 19 Freedom Revolution, Rojava once again and congratulate the people of Kurdistan and the peoples of North-East Syria, commemorate the heroic martyrs with respect, wish for the success of Efrin the Liberation Forces, the path of this great revolution is a shining star of freedom and the historic march of humanity.
