On the 4th anniversary of the Massacre of Pirsus, the graves of 33 dreamers who have fallen martyr, are expected and commemorated.
ISTANBUL
33 dreamers, passengers who were martyred in the Suruc massacre have been commemorated on the 4th anniversary.
Commemorations were held at every cemetery in which the martyrs are given to Earth. The cemeteries are as follows:
Gazi Cemetery – Duygu Tuna, Cemil Yıldız and İsmet Şeker; Karacaahmet Cemetery – Ece Dinç; Küçükyalı Cemetery – Nazegül Bahar Boyraz; Karlıtepe Cemetery – Vatan Budak; Ihlamurkuyu Cemetery – Polen Ünlü and Hatice Ezgi Sadet; Şeyhli Cemetery – Büşra Mete; Kurtköy Cemetery – Alper Sapan.
The Commemoration of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) co-chair Şahin Tümüklü and People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul deputy Hüda Kaya, as well as representatives of many political parties and non-governmental organizations, attended.
Pollen Ünlü and Hatice Ezgi Sadet, who lost their lives in the massacre, were commemorated in the tomb of Ihlamurkuyu. “Do not forget Suruç for justice, Polen Ünlü, Hatice Ezgi Sadet, Şennur Ayaz Ünlü is immortal” was written on a banner, which was opened at the commemoration.
Hatice Ezgi Sadet, the mother of Sunay Sadet, was heard in the press. “Seeing you here has given us a distinct peace of mind. Thank you all very much. It is very difficult for me to express emotions in such a moment. The things I live in are completely different, the things I see are completely different,” she said.
After the commemoration, the mass left the cemeteries and went to hand out food, in memory of those who lost their lives in Suruç at Hacı Bektaşi Veli Cemevi.
WAN, GEVER AND MÛŞ
Yunus Emre Şen who lost his life in the massacre was commemorated in Van, Süleyman Aksu in Yüksekova, Mücahit Erol, Medali Barutçu and Serhat Devrim in Muş.
HDP Wan Provincial Organization visited Yunus Emre Şen’s cemetery. HDP MPs Murat Sarısaç and Muazzez Orhan, Şen’s mother, father and relatives as well as many other people attended the commemoration, held in Karşıyaka cemetery.
The tomb of Süleyman Aksu who lost his life in Suruç was visited in Yüksekova district of Hakkari. HDP Colemêrg MP Sait Dede, as well as Mothers of Peace, HDP provincial and district administrators participated in the commemoration.
After a minute of silence, Süleyman Aksoy’s mother Kudret Aksu condemned the massacre and demanded that the perpetrators be tried. At the commemoration, toys were left by Aksu’s grave.
HDP Muş Province organization and ESP members commemorated the tombs of Mücahit Erol, Medali Barutçu and Serhat Devrim. The event was attended by families as well as HDP members. Coming in the Taşo Cemetery in the Dere neighbourhood, the HDP members left cloves on the graves after the minute of silence.
AMED
In Amed, a memorial event was held for Veysel Özdemir and Nazlı Akyürek. Özdemir and Akyürek families, HDP deputy Saliha Aydeniz and HDP and ESP executive and members of the Youth Assembly attended the commemoration ceremony held at the grave of Yeniköy Cemetery for Veysel Özdemir.
Afterwards, a different Cemetery where Nazlı Akyürek’s cemetery was located was moved. Speaking on behalf of the Suruç Families Initiative, Mesut Çeki said, “Our blood is not dried up. Neither blood dries nor conscience rests before justice comes.” Ceki demanded that the perpetrators be put on trial, and stressed that they will not give up fighting.
PIRSUS
Amara Cultural Center and graveyard where the massacre took place in Pirsus district of Rihah, were put under police blockade in the early morning. HDP Riha lawmakers Ayse Driver, Omer Ocalan, Nimetullah Erdogan, ESP Co-Deputy Chairman Beycan Taskiran, SGDF Co-Chairman Deniz Bahçeci, KESK managers, members of the Urfa Bar Association lawyers, IHD Urfa Branch executives met in Suruç.
While the photographs of the people who lost their lives in the cemetery were carried, the commemoration program started with a minute of silence in the cemetery. HDP Riha MP Ömer Öcalan, who made a short speech at the beginning of the commemoration, said, “33 comrades were attacked by the most barbaric terrorist organization of the Middle East, 4 years ago. Neglects are known to all public opinion. ”
Ömer Öcalan condemned the decision of the Governor’s Office to ban the event, on the anniversary of the massacre.
Then Murat Yurtgül’s father Nimet Yurtgül, who lost his son in the massacre, said that the measures that were not taken on the day of the massacre were taken today. Pointing out the security measures taken around the cemetery and cultural centre, father Yurtgül said, “If the measures taken today were taken that day, these deaths would not have occurred. Our search for justice will continue until the end.”
After the speeches, the mass set out towards the garden of Amara Cultural Center where the massacre took place. Descending from the vehicles in the centre of Suruç mass, wanted to pass the cultural centre on foot. However, the police prevented the mass from marching. After a short discussion, the crowd walked from side streets to the cultural centre. While the police blockaded the cultural centre, they were looking for the people, one by one.
Carnations and toys were left to the point where the bomb exploded when the massacre was carried out. Photographs of 33 people who died in the massacre 4 years ago in Suruç, were hung with a banner reading “justice for everyone.”
Murat Yurtgül’s mother Besna Yurtgül, who lost her son at the commemoration, had emotional moments when she leaned on the floor and kissed the earth.
Çağla Seven, speaking on behalf of the families of Suruç for the first time, said, “There was no such security measure when we were all injured here. The bomber crossed in front of the police, waving his arms. ”
MERSIN
The Confederation of Public Workers Unions (KESK) Mersin Branches Platform commemorated the martyrs of Suruç with a press release. In a statement made in the Free Children’s Park, they said “We have not forgotten the 33 dreamers”on behalf of the public labourers.
Solak recalled that the AKP rejected all research proposals to uncover the forces behind the massacres after Suruç and the real culprits remain unprosecuted.
