A fire broke out in an empty field around Hêskîf Fortress as a result of ignition of dried green materials. The historic district of Hêskîf, was previously wanted to be submerged in the new Ilisu Dam project of the fascist Turkish government. Today, it was reported that many of the natural caves are being damaged in the fire at Hêskîf Castle, where only one fire crew intervened to put the fire out.
Mesopotamia Ecology Movement said in a statement on social media, that “the fire continues to grow at Hasankeyf Castle at around 17:30. The fire is only intervened by a fire engine. It is our call to the authorities: urgent response to the fire!”
