MEXMUR
Following the action in Hewlêr, where three people were killed in a restaurant on 17 July, one of which was a responsible for MIT in Başur, the KDP has blocked off the road between Hewlêr-Mexmur for the past 13 days.
A large embargo has been imposed on the camp for 13 days, and no one is being allowed to pass, including workers, those who are ill or are in any other urgent situation. Those who want to go from Mexmur to Hewlêr in the morning are kept at public order checkpoints where the KDP forces are located and kept there.
While this heavy embargo on the Mexmur Camp has been going on for 13 days, the United Nations (UN) and the Iraqi government have taken no steps to lift the embargo.
Immediately after the action in Hewler, the roads between Hewlêr-Kerkûk, Hewlêr-Süleymaniye and Hewlêr -Mexmûr were closed to traffic. Since then, all other roads have been reopened for use except the road from Mexmur.
The KDP’s security forces have raided the homes of many northern, Mexmurian families and detained them. Most of the detainees were released, while the two detainees are now missing. No information has been received about the fate of the two detainees for days.
On the other hand, almost every day after the Hewlêr action, warplanes and helicopters are moving over the Mexmur Refugee Camp, which was bombed several days ago.
