HPG Press Liaison Center (BIM) made a written statement, regarding the occupation operations carried out by the Turkish state on April 30 in the Qelanis area of the Baykan district of Sêrt. The operation, launched on May 1, caused the martyrdom of 3 guerrillas in an airstrike.
The description of HPG BİM is as follows:
“In our statement dated May 12, 2019, we shared with the public that the Turkish army started an operation in the Qelanis area of Baykan district of Siirt Province on 30 April and that 3 of our friends reached martyrdom as a result of airstrikes.
As a result of this attack, Helin Jiyan, a member of our Garzan State Commandership, and our comrades Argeş Malazgirt and Harun Simko reached martyrdom.

HELİN JİYAN (AKİDE ÖZTEKİN)
Our friend Helin Jiyan was born in 1976 in a matriotic environment in the district of Kozluk in Batman. She closely witnessed the assimilation and genocide policies of the invaders of Kurdistan.
Our comrade Helin, who never accepted the massacres that the enemy constantly imposed on the Kurdish people, joined the Freedom Movement in 1999. Comrade Helin, who took her place in the ranks in response to the international conspiracy against our leadership, has deepened and developed herself with the leadership’s free women’s ideology since her first day of participation and has taken a sacrificing stance.
Helin, who has fulfilled all duties and responsibilities, has been succinct, simple and labouring during her struggle. Comrade Helin has been practising in the Media Defense Areas and most recently in Garzan Province, where she has taken on responsibility as a pioneer commander.
Comrade Helin, who plays an active role in the moves that develop in all practical areas, has always been a pioneer commander loved by her comrades with her insistence on being in difficult practices and her humble personality.
YJA STAR has claimed and endeavored to develop the professional guerrilla of the period in women’s militarization. Helin’s stance in life and determination in the struggle will always be a guide for us in the struggle. Her courage towards the enemy, her sacrifice, her love of companionship, her commitment to the people, the party and the Leadership will always be an example for us.
ARGES MALAZGIRT (SERDAR DEMIR)
Our Argeş friend was born and raised in a matriotic environment in Malazgirt district of Muş. Argeş friend, who grew up in a society where Kurdistani values live deeply, noticed the attacks of the fascist Turkish state on his own social values at an early age.
Argeş, who never accepted the persecution of the Kurdish people, joined the guerrilla ranks in 2016. Coming to the Garzan Province, Comrade Argeş soon became a practical guerrilla.
Comrade Argeş, who developed very quickly with his quick wit and determination, has performed important tasks in his pioneering mission in his fields.
Comrade Argeş, who is known among his friends for his sacrifice and honesty, fought for the freedom of the Kurdish people until his martyrdom.
HARUN SIMKO (LOKMAN NAKDI)
Our friend Harun was born in 1992 in a matriotic family in the city of Divandere in Rojhilat Kurdistan. Comrade Harun, who witnessed the oppressive policies of the system at a younger age, joined the guerrilla ranks in 2012 against the genocide war of the Turkish state.
Comrade Harun, who has been a devoted participant since the first day he joined the guerrilla, has successfully fulfilled his duties and responsibilities with great enthusiasm. Comrade Harun has been one of the most active comrades in the war against the genocidal fascist AKP-MHP.
We express our condolences to the matriotic people of Kurdistan and the precious families of comrades Helin, Argeş and Harun.
