KOBANÊ

Yekîtiya Jinên Ciwan (YJC) started to provide military training in Kobane, on the basis of self-defense. The main purpose of the training is to defend young women and especially in the circumstances of invasion attacks. Young women are given basic training in weapons.

Speaking about their education, Yekîtiya Jinên Ciwan member Nûjîn Sîdî said: ”Young women are educated here on the basis of self-defence. In the event of an attack by the invading Turkish state, we consider this training necessary to protect our lands. All Kurdish women should be educated on this basis.

The youth should receive more self-defence training to make the occupying Turkish state refrain. Especially the young women must see that the path of self-existence against the patriarchal mentality is not possible without self-defence.”
