Izmir Youth Freedom Association’s organised Youth Summer Camp, which was planned to be held in a holiday village in Seferihisar district of Izmir between July 19-21, was banned by the Izmir Governorship without giving any reason.
The youth who met Seferihisar Municipality and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality officials for an alternative place, left without any results and set camp in a green area in Konak. The youth sent a message to the fascist government officials through banners reading “You cannot prevent our joy, hope and courage.” The youth announced that they will continue the camp.
The Libertarian Youth members called for support to non-governmental organizations and youth in their sharing with the #YouthCampWontBeObstructed (#GenclikKampıEngellenemez) hashtags on their social media accounts.
In spite of everything, Arzu Sert said that workshops will be held for two days in the Tepekule Culture and Congress Center of TMMOB and said, “they are afraid of the dynamism of youth. We struggle for art and culture together. Women’s works, clay and sculpture workshops will continue. The workshops will be held between 10.00 and 17.00 and the struggle of the youth in the university will take place. ”
