International experts gathered in northeastern Syria on Saturday in the “International Forum on Daesh” to discuss the future of Syria’s East Euphrates region and victims of the Daesh terrorist group.

The three-day forum, which took place in included 125 academics, researchers and politicians from 15 countries, including the United States and European and Arab countries

According to the Rojava Information Center, the forum primarily aims to shed light on crimes committed by Daesh against humanity, women, the environment and historical places by providing reports and documents supported by footage.

The objective of the forum is to define a strategy to confront the threats of Daesh after its elimination in its latest stronghold in Al-Baghouz, in addition to unifying efforts to support the Women’s Protection Units, People’s Protection Units and the Syrian Democratic Forces.

Syrian sources revealed to media outlets that Turkey tried to obstacle the organization of the conference, but failed.

The forum also examined the fate of Daesh post, its military and territorial defeat, and measures to prevent its re-emergence.

Jawdat Safi, brother of Islamic State captive Jordanian pilot Muath al-Kasasbeh who was burnt alive by the terrorist organization in early February 2015, said families of Daesh victims should be financially compensated.

He further affirmed that people responsible for his brother’s murder must be brought to justice.

A leader within Al-Shaitat tribe in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor Governorate, Nasr Othman, said Daesh members killed more than 700 civilians in a massacre in August 2014, urging the International Court of Justice to hold these killers accountable for their crimes.
