In a written statement, the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) commemorated the July 14 death fast resistance.
The statement of DTK is as follows:
“Today is a threshold in the history of our struggle for freedom, a historical turning point, July 14th 37th anniversary of the Great Death Fast Resistance. In the 37th year of this historical resistance, we once again commemorate all the dungeon insurgents and martyrs with the great leaders of the resistance Hayri Durmuş, Kemal Pir, Akif Yılmaz and Ali Çiçek.
During the fascist dictatorship of September 12, a major attack was being carried out against the revolutionary-democratic opposition in Turkey and Kurdistan. The enemy wanted to achieve the destruction of all social policy by conducting social oppression, especially towards the Kurdish people. They attempted to liquidate the freedom struggle, unequivocally.
Tens of thousands of revolutionaries, democrats and matriots were taken into custody and subjected to severe torture. In the dungeons, they were taken under heavy torture.
The fascist dictatorship of September 12 was a system project aimed at creating a uniform society entirely under torture and oppression. Although 37 years have passed, the system created by the fascist dictatorship of September 12, nowadays, has been deepened and internalized by the AKP and seeks to destroy and dismantle all those who do not think or live as the enemy does.
The most strategic objective of the September 12 Fascist dictatorship was to liquidate the total Kurdish people and their struggle for freedom in thousands of PKK cadres, Kurdish patriots and democracies that they filled into dungeons in the provinces of Kurdistan.
The place where the torture and the resistance peaked was the dungeon of Amed. The fact that the leading cadres of our struggle for freedom were in the prison of Amed made the struggle and resistance in the prison of Amed important in historical, political and social terms and made it determinative in the frustration of surrender and betrayal policies.
The most brutal and inhuman torture witnessed in the history of mankind has been carried out against PKK cadres and Kurdish matriots imprisoned in the prison of Amed. Under heavy torture, confession policies were imposed and surrender was sought, as this would be a betrayal.
Under the conditions of the September 12 coup, when the social-democratic opposition was completely silenced and suppressed, the rebellion and the will of our people for the dungeon resistance led by the Amed Dungeon Resistance, regardless of the surrender and betrayal policies of the September 12, the fascist dictatorship were all in vain. The rebels gained, stood up and took action.
In 1982, the resistance torch, the great hero Mazlum Doğan, who burned the resistance torch with three matchsticks on Newroz, which was turned into the fire of resistance by Ferhat Kurtay, Necmi Öner, Mahmut Zengin and Eşref Anyık on May 17, 1982.
The leading cadres of the Kurdistan revolution were brought to victory under the leadership of Hayri Durmus, Kemal Pir, Akif Yilmaz and Ali Cicek, and the policy of betrayal and surrender were bankrupt and thrown into the wastebasket of history irrevocably.
The July 14 Resistance was a turning point starting from the dungeons, spreading across the whole Kurdistan geography and society.
July 14 resistance; it has made a culture, a philosophy of life, a new reflex and discipline of social achievement and attainment dominated the whole Kurdistan society and the struggle for Freedom, making it an everlasting internal phenomenon.
It destroyed all darkness, fears, despair and distrust, gave the gospel of our bright tomorrows, and became the name of intervening in surrender and betrayal under the leadership of sacrifice, hope, determination, determination, courage and the will to succeed.
Today, our struggle for freedom and our people is denied, ignored, liquidated and faced with the conditions of destruction. If all of the world’s humanity is looking at Rojava with envy, it is because it has become the hope of the peoples of the Middle East. Our people have reached the conditions that will have a free status, a democratic system against the capitalist-colonialist system.
The July 14 resistance spirit focused on victory by all our social and national dynamics, its internalization was unstoppable.
With this belief, we commemorate the July 14 Great Death Fast resistance and hero martyrs with great respect.”
