Dr Ibrahim Kaya, the professor of Sociology Department at the Dokuz Eylul University Faculty has been exposed after physical and verbal harassing nearly 10 graduate students on different dates. Writings exposing İbrahim Kaya were written on the toilet walls; the dean who noticed the texts had them removed and had closed the toilet for the use of the students.
During the course of his duty at Kütahya Dumlupınar University, an investigation was started against Ibrahim Kaya who had harrassed 20 students through his social media accounts.
Following the sharing of the events on Twitter, a hashtag campaign under #DokuzEylüldeTacizVar (there is harassment at Dokuz Eylul) was launched. Ibrahim Kaya’s lawyers filed a criminal complaint against 20 students who shared content regarding the harassment on their accounts.

We know that İbrahim Kaya is neither the first nor the last, harassment is not exceptional in the academy. There are many academics who exploit their position and make implicit and explicit harassment. We see all of you, watch your steps.
Ibrahim Kaya, who has been harassing women for many years in Kütahya Dumlupınar University, and 9 years alone in Dokuz Eylül University, is not our professor.
Serenay was brought in to Buca Police Station on 3 July, to give an official statement regarding the ‘accusations’ and ‘slander’ of the insulted, Professor Ibrahim Kaya.
