Silopiya Thermal Power Plant, which was established between Bêspin and Gite towns in Şırnex has posed a serious threat to all the living beings around it, it was stated by the public.
The HDP Silopiya and Cizîra Botan Youth Assemblies, HDP Şırnex deputies Nuran İmir and Hüseyin Kaçmaz, Mayor Süleyman Şavluk and Adalet Fidan, and hundreds of citizens participated in the statement made at Sanat Street.
During the statement, some citizens wear white masks, chanting the slogans “We will win resisting, We do not want thermal power plants.” In the statement, messages were shared about the damages of thermal power plants, “no thermal power plant, no to death chimneys” it was written on a banner.
511 DEATHS IN 3 YEARS
In her speech, HDP District Co-Chair Fatma Gündüz stated that nature has been destroyed for 35 years, 511 deaths occurred due to diseases created by the thermal power plant in the last 3 years and 11 thousand people were left disabled, she added.
Highlighting that serious increases in various heart diseases caused by poisonous gases coming from the plant, Gündüz said that these gases also cause the trees to dry, animal husbandry and beekeeping will be affected negatively.
HDP: SHOULDER TO SHOULDER
HDP deputy Hüseyin Kaçmaz said that almost every one of the citizen died in these particular cities, was due to cancer.
Kacmaz said that there is a risk of cancer, regardless of who gets into the gas coming out of the power plant and said, “We will fight until we achieve. This is not a political issue. Whoever it is, we stand by those opposing. Our people must protect their land. We have to stand shoulder the shoulder to close the thermal power plant. ”
