As of 17.00, the elections have been ended by the YSK, and the results cannot be made without lifting the publication ban.
After the March 31 Local Administrations General Elections, the Supreme Election Board (YSK) decided to cancel the votes on May 6.
In the election, AKP candidate Binali Yildirim, CHP candidate Ekrem Imamoglu, Saadet Party’s candidate Necdet Gokcinar and Mustafa Ilker Yucel candidate of the Vatan Party competed with 16 independent candidates.
Since this election was a renewal election, those who turned 18 and soldiers from this period could not vote. In all 39 districts of Istanbul, 62 in prisons, 156 mobile polling stations; a total of 31,342 votes were cast. Mobile polling stations were created in all districts for bed-dependent voters due to illness or disability.
There were some violations during the day. A total of 111 people were processed for photographing a ballot, voting together or in place of someone else, entering the cabinet with a telephone, and showing their votes.
In some places where the seals of parliamentary elections were used, the YSK accepted the application made by the AKP and CHP for the votes to be considered valid in the ballot boxes and decided to count the votes as valid.
Following the decision of YSK to renew the elections of 31 March Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the voting process of the voters who went to the polls ended at 17.00. With the end of the voting process, ballot box officials began the process of counting votes.
