The 23rd anniversary of the martyrdom of Zeynep Kınacı (Zilan), who fell as a result of her self-sacrifice action in Dersim on June 30, 1996, was held at the Vedat Aydın Conference Hall of the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) under the leadership of Tevgera Jinên Azad (TJA).
During the commemorative event, TJA activists, Mothers of Peace, HDP and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) provincial and district organizations and many women participated in the commemoration.
Photographs of Zeynep Kınacı, People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and Sakine Cansız were hung in the hall. The commemoration began with a minute of respect for those who were martyred in the struggle for freedom and democracy.
‘Zilan is the resistance line of free women’s philosophy’
TJA activist Demet Özkaran made a short speech and said that the 17th and 30th of June was a moment of women’s freedom, saying that “Berivan and Beritan’s line reached the peak from Zilan to Sema; Sara, Arin, Asia.
The power of freedom, beauty, love will change the direction of history and transform the difficult, painful, hopeful and free moments of the story of travelling through Zilanization.
Zilan is the line of resistance and stance of free women’s philosophy. The Kurdish women’s passion and longing for freedom, their epic struggles for this cause, begins with the Zilans, progressing with the Arin and Zehra today, strengthening and recreating the values of humanity condemned to extinction.
Zilans and Arins once again proved that organization and stance are the two pillars of free life. Because a life that is not free is not life. The warring becomes free, the liberating becomes beautiful, the loved loves ” said.’
We will not decrease, we will multiply
Zilan was a pioneer and an icon in women’s struggle. She sowed the seed of life and flourished hundreds of Zilans. It was not only the symbol of a revolution, but it also revealed the power of women.
There are hundreds of Zilans among us, we have raised hundreds of Zilans. We named our children Zilan for her worth. No matter how many martyrs we fall, we will not decrease. I greet all our female martyrs through Zilan. ”
