In the city of Meriwan, Kurdistan Region Occupied by Iran, Suxra Xelîlî was imprisoned 7 years ago, following an act of self-defense; in which she killed a man who attempted to rape her.
It was stated that Suxra Xelîlî, who was sentenced to death, would be forgiven if she paid the family of the rapist 300 million Iranian divisions ‘blood money’.
Suxra, who is facing execution of the death penalty because she could not pay the money, started a campaign on social media through her husband, Umîd Bedrî.
A campaign called “Helmetek bo jiyan” (Campaign for Life) called for help to save Suxra. Suxra has been in prison with her 4-year-old child, for 7 years.
