As it must be disclaimed, the book ‘A revolutionary Approach to The Religion Problem’ is in its undeveloped, primitive form as self-criticized by the Peoples Leader, himself. These writings are not completely representative of the current stand of the PKK regarding the revolutionary approach to religion. There have been many developments released as part of defense writings ever since, due to constraints. Overall, the writings should be taken with a pinch of salt, as we continue to translate and analyze the topic.
Definition of religion and its effects on the development of humanity
First of all, we need to clarify the definition of religion. In the circumstances when the human form began to emerge, in the period when humanization had begun as a species, we had to reach a religious value, thought, and perspective. This was necessary for two reasons: firstly due to the exceptional forces of nature, and secondly, due to one’s own talents.
Imagine a new being on the earth, which is capable of dominating it with its capabilities; what he will need to do is to start bringing together materials, show great effort to feed the animals, and collecting the other people by mobilizing its abilities and values. This is the ability to collect things and in return, the ability to have something.
Why, then, would we not develop the idea of ‘this world is mine’?
Since our world is an extraordinarily beautiful planet, why shouldn’t it immediately reach the concept of heaven? Why accept the pitch-darkness of death or absence; the exact circumstances of the animal kingdom it had just come out of? Why not glorify yourself? But in addition to the values the human has, he has fear.
For example, the sun rises and radiates extremely strong; with thunder, strong lightning, and pitch darkness, on the one hand, rain, forests, monsters on the other hand! And all of these effects every hour of the human’s life. He is jealous on one hand and enchanted on the other.
These are the factors dominating his life, and how god was created; first, are the “gods of darkness” and second is the “gods of light”. They saw the sun and immediately created the “Sun God”. The emperors in Japan are still called the ‘Sons of the Sun’. The effect of the sun in Japan is much more meaningful, in connection to its climate.
The most beautiful role played in nature is that of the sun, thus the greatest Powers in the community are referred to as the ‘sun’, or the ‘son of the sun’. Already, Japanese emperors consider themselves identical to god. For example, there is the Storm God; in response to every force of nature, a god has been created in its name. This is most predominant in the clan-tribal structure.
We have good knowledge on this subject since we have been able to access the documents and have their names in writing; they have a god representing almost every force of nature. The largest of these is Zeus. It is almost a preliminary stage of the approach to monotheistic religions, even before it reaches monotheistic religions – “the god of all gods!”
Places of worship are created in his name; the statues erected are glamorous, and also influential in society. İf we look at the foundations of the creation of religion, it completely represents the forces of nature. At that point, they were still representing the power of nature, rather than the modern representation of the power of people. Because in the circumstances humanity was formed, only religion could only be a ground for restraining, or understanding, the forces of nature.
This phenomenon is very important. For example, since you can live healthily under various safety measures in your environment, you can survive without experiencing many tremors in your soul or brain. However, when we compare to the first human, we see that these basic ‘necessities’ do not exist. There are no stores to buy food from, or any drinkable water, etc. In short, the first humans were not formed in conditions, appropriate for their survival.
In such a case, everything depends on the availability of natural conditions. It will hunt animals, but he is so flimsy that he himself could be swallowed whole! He is in great need of nature, but the forces of nature compel him. Let’s not forget that he is very helpless in this regard; He has opened his eyes to the beautiful planet, but these forces of our planet could destroy him any moment.
There is no shelter; he does not have dwellings as he would now. He has no knife, no handful of salt, no fire and no food; Let’s take the person who is in such a position and consider this situation of people while trying to understand religion. How will he overcome his weaknesses, his nakedness? Of course, by inventing some gods, or by glorifying oneself! I believe that we are not mistaken in this matter: People resort to the idea of religion and god in order to make themselves the rulers, to get rid of their weaknesses, their miserableness, and fears, to look sympathetic to nature and to make nature understandable and, above all, to make nature their own.
In fact, the person himself has his eye on dominating. On the other hand, he wants to regulate the forces of nature that are harming him. As a childish way of doing this, he finds himself in a childish deception when he becomes a power of nature, makes an idol, and prostrates before it. And when he fooled himself, the power he worshiped rained down, for example, the rain he needed, scattered light, and gave him greatness! Look at the roles of the gods of heaven, the gods of fertility; it is always there to meet its mandatory needs.
